Writing is my rage; if I've had five minutes of conversation with you, chances are I'll try to capture something of that on paper. I compete in US Masters Swimming, ride a road bike, hike and Jeep in the mountains, and try to stay active. Most of my adult life I've been a runner, played volleyball, and devoted to martial arts, but a degenerative ankle condition has made it unsafe for me to continue these activities. I served in the 10th Special Forces Group and try to keep up with old friends from my Army days, several of whom are still in uniform.
Music
Updated 9/12/08: Like Gloria Steinem once wrote, "We vote with our checkbooks." So what's in my phone's MP3 player this moment is what's happening in my world with respect to music: Billy Idol - Rebel Yell...Billy Joel - The Stranger...Blondie (best of)...Bob Marley & The Wailers - Legend...Buckethead - Colma...CW McCall (best of)...Doors (best of)...Drew Fowler - No Man's Land (friend from Colorado)...Fiona Apple - Tidal...Fractalia - 2002 garage recording (friends from Colorado, now called Sons of the Addicted)...Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood...Kid Rock - Devil Without a Cause...Nirvana - Nevermind...No Doubt (best of)...Ottmar Liebert - Barcelona Nights...Ozric Tentacles - Waterfall Cities...Prince - Purple Rain...Rage Against the Machine...Robert Plant - Now & Zen...Seal (best of, studio & accoustic)...Sedated in the Eighties (80's mix)...Snoop Dogg - Rhythm & Gangsta...Sound Tribe Sector 9...Steely Dan - Showbiz Kids 1 & 2...Ted Nugent - Little Miss Dangerous...Tool - 10000 Days...Will Smith - Big Willie Style...ZZ Top (best of)...Favorite album ever is "Dreamboat Annie," by Heart (Side One, for those familiar with the ancient concept of vinyl album sides); I realized as a teenager that the song "Magic Man" was written about a guy just like me.
Movies
The Shawshank Redemption (filmed at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, OH, but long after I was there)........The Marla Hanson Story (before she became a famous victim, Marla was the heartbreak of my youth)
Television
I watch Dallas Cowboys games and Formula 1 races. I'm a fan of Southpark and The Colbert Report. Also try to keep up with the news, and regularly watch Discover Channel and FitTV. I'm glad to report that watching so much TV has greatly reduced my IQ, so feel free to ask me stupid questions about anything - anything! - with confidence I'll be able to give a stupid, packaged, TV-trained response.
Books
Top 10 but not necessarily in order of preference:
1) The Bible...2) Robert Pirsig, "Zen & The Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"...3) Robert Bly, "Iron John"...4) Charles Dickens, "Great Expectations"...5) Erica Jong, "Fear of Flying"...6) Jack Kerouac, "On the Road"...7) Pat Conroy, "The Prince of Tides"...8) Herman Melville, "Moby Dick"...9) Carl Sagan, "Broca's Brain: Reflections on the Romance of Science"...10) Anything written/published by Trevanian or James Michener.
Heroes
SGT Leland "Lee" Charland, 10th SFG(A) medic, my best friend in the Army and afterward, who succumbed to a 5-year fight with leukemia in 1989...........My aunt, Carole Ann Kauffman, who lost the same noble fight on October 31, 2006...........Bill Thomas, one of the finest people I've known, who was recalled by The Big Ranger in the Sky at the ripe old age of 45, on January 17, 2007...........And Bill Bunch, aka "Mr. Berkley Lawyer, who knows nothing about Texas," who may be the most realistic idealist I'll ever encounter. By the way, he's a native Texan!..........LTC David Grosso, MAJ Joseph Puskar, MAJ Mitch Utterback, PFC Zach Thomas, and sargeants David Lacey and Tammy Heineman when they're in uniform - fighting the right war at the right time!
About me: Wannabe mountain slacker boy, semi-professional in the way that a Peterbuilt is a semi-truck, but with that distinguishing inability to write profoundly yet state nothing of significance. I lived in a beautiful part of Colorado for the past 5+ years, moving there on a complete whim in 2002; however, at the time of this writing I'm gradually moving my stuff back to Ohio. I'm going to law school next year, and this has changed my priorities a lot of late.
And one more thing, on the "Body Type" question here, how come everybody says they're "athletic"? Why can't I select "Narrow-Minded, Big-Footed Bastard" as my body type?

Who I'd like to meet: Sigmund Freud, Jim Morrison, and Jenna Jameson. To see if these three, together, can prove the hypothesis of my Philosophy 101 paper, titled "Oedipus was Only Fucking with His Mother's Head." (Yes, I really wrote a 60-page paper with that title.)
I hope everything is going good. Sorry about that court shit!!! Well, sometime before the end of May we need to stop at Dupont Bar and I'll buy you a burger and some beers!!!! XOXOXO

It was great to meet ya, maybe you can visit me sometime. I'm really proud of the guys, they have been working their asses off. Maybe by the time I get back they will be going on tour and I can get some BADASS pics of them.
The 9th annual Rock For Food concert this Saturday Dec. 20th at Smugglers in Montrose. All you need is one or more cans of food to get in. All food is given to the local food bank. Hope to see you there.
Ummm...you may have forgotten that I still need a certain something. I've noticed that no action has been taken to rectify the situation I'm currently in (i.e. poopy pants). I will be coming to town within the next couple of weeks...I hope I don't have display my pants while there. It would not favor my stellar reputation in the area.
i am feeling better...after only 3 and a half hours of sleep the night before and working breakfast shift and hanging with prince valium all day...perfect recipe for sleep like a baby...i hope it continues...:)thanx for your concern
