Orange Grove was started in 2001 as a crossover reggae band from Sint Maarten (The West Indies). Their name also comes from an area on the island in the Cole Bay district. After the band moved to Holland things picked up suddenly. After adding a few extra faces in 2002 the band decided to start a rock formation which would be named Intwine. With Intwine's sudden fame, Orange Grove's singer Michael Maidwell soon realised he would need to find a new team for Orange Grove as his former band-mates were now too occupied with Intwine's busy schedule. After a brief stint on the island of Aruba with local band Honeypot, Michael returned to Holland and did just that: he found a new team. With new members all coming from di_erent parts of the Caribbean (Aruba, Curacao, Surinam and Sint Maarten), a reborn Orange Grove had a new strong and dedicated group who were ready to put the weight on their shoulders together!
Their fans had waited a long time but _nally on February the 9th of 2007, after 7 months in the studio, Orange Grove had proudly released their debut album titled Genuine Origins in a sold-out Paard van Troje in The Hague. It was a monumental event for Orange Grove having come such a long way to _nally have their _rst album. Members of Intwine and Splendid accompanied them on stage to add even more fuel to the blaze!
A year later they would release their follow-up album titled Some Live Stuff. The idea was to let their fans take home a little bit of the experience from an Orange Grove show. The recordings on the album would be taken from two di_erent shows, one in the Summer of 2007 and the other in May 2008. They had also decided to make it a (semi) acoustic album since at the same time they were busy with their acoustic shows they called the "Sessions on the Coast". The standard drumset was exchanged for a cajon (a wooden box which is sat on and used as a sort of a kickdrum) and a set of congas. The electric guitar sounds would now be acoustic. The feel of many of the songs would change slightly...to a more mellow and intimate feel some might say...and OG loved the di_erence between their 2 shows and decided that with their _rst live album, Some Live Stu_, they would try to capture the essence of their 'Sessions on the Coast' show.
Orange Grove's music is over_owing with positive energy and feel-good vibes, as is typical of course with most good reggae. Do not be mistaken in thinking this is just merely more of the same from the reggae genre. Orange Grove has developed their own unique sound and by crossing over from reggae to many other styles like Hiphop, Zouk, Rock and Soca they have managed to create a style that is di_cult to simply classify under one genre.
From their _rst demo recordings OG has been spreading their sounds all over the globe. In total their songs have been downloaded over 1 million times and it only keeps getting better! They have been receiving emails and letters from fans from the Caribbean to Indonesia to California. It seems as long as Orange Grove is making music, there are many people out there who will want to hear it! .

Orange Grove's songs can now also be heard in the new _lm 'Panman: The Rhythm Of The Palms' as the movie's producers thought OG's songs would be a great _t to represent a movie that was completely produced on Sint Maarten. 'Panman' is now playing at select theatres in Holland..
Besides playing in many of the popular venues throughout Holland (Melkweg, Paradiso, 013, 't Paard, E_enaar just to name a few), OG has also performed their shows outside of Holland: in Atlanta (USA), Barbados, Sint Maarten (opened for Damian Marley twice) and on Curacao, where they were always welcomed with open arms and happy crowds!.
Michael, Bruce, Touché, Roël and Danny create a fun-loving vibe and a positive sound, with conscious lyrics, making both their recordings as well as their live show of premium quality. With a strong and devoted team behind them they are looking forward to embarking on this exciting and much promising journey!
