The Oranges movies started out from a tongue in cheek high school art class project. Me and my friend Rich Evans (co-creator and voice of Professor Sunkyst) teamed up on the art project which was to create a book. We were supposed to make and bind and create art and text for a book or something. We didn't know exactly what to make the book about so the art teacher looked around the room and saw someones lunch and said "make it about oranges". He jokingly suggested that, of course, but thats what we made it on. We bought professor sunkyst from the local grocery store in 1995, slapped some glasses on him and hastely drew his face and have been using him in these films ever since. Oh yeah, the book was a "video book". We did make an actual book, but the pictures in the book were blue screened in and each chapter in the book was a short Oranges story. The little art project was a success and so eventually we started making more short films (one was even shot on 16mm film) Professor Sunkyst fought a giant easter bunny, a space eggplant, and giant lizards. In 2000 we mustered the insanity to make a feature and called it Oranges: The Movie. In this film Professor Sunkyst was now the president of the Orange nation and he becomes infected with a brain demon. He starts wars, goes to strip clubs, and appoints his worst enemy as his right hand man. Eventually a giant monster bursts out of sunkysts head and destroys the city. Years later we shot Oranges: Revenge of the Eggplant., which is the most ambitious Oranges feature yet...

Oranges: Revenge of the Eggplant tells the tale of Professor Charles Sunkyst (an actual 11 year old fruit) and his fateful and deadly encounter with the diabolical Dr. Eggplant. Professor Sunkyst is a worldly scientist, adventurer, and college professor. After a mission in Bananastan to rescue the Orange Nation president he returns to college to continue teaching his class on advanced particle physics. Now Sunkyst has enemies. A lot of enemies. Years and years of foiling the plots of infamous super villains doesnt let you rest for one minute. However, this situation is a little different The circumstances of Dr. Eggplants lust for revenge on Sunkyst arent all too clear and memorable to the good Professor. Eggplant is able to slip onto campus and become involved in the annual science fair by wearing a mere mustache as a disguise. He does have evil intentions though, with disastrous consequences! During the violence and adventure Sunkyst befriends several students and they learns things about themselves and each other.

"Dr. Eggplant, I must tell you I LOVED "Oranges: Revenge of the Eggplant"!!! It was absolutely a hilarious thrill ride from beginning to end. I will treasure it always. I am going to watch it with commentary soon so I can learn more about how Mike and Rich made such a marvelous movie. Seriously, this is a one-of-a-kind film like nothing I've ever seen before. Unique, artistic, funny, well-made...I can't even describe it (everybody has to order it and see it for themselves to experience the real impact). This is going to be a total cult classic film with a gigantic underground following. I'm hugely impressed. Major Kuddos! Dr. Eggplant, you were EGG-CELLENT! Did you get your stray eggplant yet?
