About me:

The poet, journalist, playwright, translator Lyubov Sirota - one of eye-witnesses and of the victims of the Chernobyl disaster, who has gone through a pain of parting with the native city of Pripyat, with friends, relatives... The poetry of Lyubov Sirota became more known to the world after the film of Rollan Sergienko "Threshold", the co-author and one from heroes of which she was, also after the edition of the collection of her poems "Burden". "Lyubov Sirota - the poet with unusually sharp sensation of time. Emotionality of her word, organic communication of the civil and personal beginnings, scale of thinking create a magic forceful field of her poetry, as much as possible outline radius of poetic self-expression of the author" - from the summaries to this book. "The thinking about the spoiled nature, illnesses, about human tragedies, them caused, about love - are the main themes of her poetry. I am convinced, that "Burden" - one of the first texts declaring really about ecological accident menacing to all of us..." - from the article "Reflection of ecological thinking in Russian art texts of XX century" by the professor of the Bergamo University Ugo Persi (the magazine "Russian abroad", 3/2001). And thanks to the professor of the Washington University Paul Brians the poems of Lyubov Sirota (in Elizaveta Rich and Leonid Levina's English translations) have sounded in the National radio of America (program Terra Infirma), have been published in anthologies: "Life on the Line: Selections on Words and Healing"; "Perspectives from the Past"; "A Fierce Brightnesss: Twenty-Five Yars of Women's Poetry", and also in the Canadian and American magazines: "Calyx", "Woman World", "Promin'", "Journal of the American Medical Association"; "New York Quarterly", "WISE", "The Russell Record Magazine", "The Modern Review", "In Our Own Words", etc. More about me and my poems see on the Home Page of the professor Paul Brians - here: ..

The city Pripyat in northern Ukraine was once home to approximately 50,000 people, many of whom were workers at the ill fated Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Pripyat was abandoned in 1986 following the accident. Today it is a ghost town, a macabre legacy to the catastrophe that was, is Chernobyl. The answers to all the questions at ..
