March 2008. Somewhere around 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Returning home, I walked several blocks. Beside me, the only other human presence outside was in a passing car here and there, every now and then.
For the entire walk nature blessed me with nearly compleat, still silence. Remembering not even the sound of chattering cricket legs.
As well as the enlivening briskness of cold weather offered only by Autumn and Winter, I look back fondly upon the street lamps. The orange-y, beige, cream-based colour of their soft light glowing on the sidewalk and faintly creeping through the twiggy branches and leaves of the trees.
For enjoying, breathing in the surroundings, the solitary reign of the night was mine!
If only to have heard the likes of 'Twilight', 'Nightwalk', 'Hemlock & Nightshade' then. 'House of Cacophonous Shadows' as well; even though I was outdoors.
