Sounds Like
Skin, sex, beauty, satire, innuendo, art, and spectacle married with dirty, lascivious, LIVE musicians (the way god intended--DOWN WITH PRE-RECORDED MUSIC!). Such a sublime mating darling! it must produce many children to bless the world.
Way back in the beginning the incomparable Swedish Housewife and drummer Francois L'ovejoi had a vision of a project where Live Music & Live Burlesque would meet for some Sassy Bump and Grind, and a few Sultry Songs in between! Soon guitarist Loren "the Viscount" Dutton, and bassman Tim "Deuce Lee" Sharpe, along with performers, Miss Indigo Blue, Lilly Verlain, and Babette La Favre came aboard (plus an ever revolving cadre of sax players). Thus Orchestra L'Pow! was born.
Playing many shows at the most happenin' clubs around town, they generated a lot of heat, and a loyal and sophisticated following ("we love you all!"). Growing, evolving, and always pushing the limits of what contemporary burlesque can be, L'Pow! brought some of the great names of Burlesque in New York to join them on stage: Julie Atlas Muse, Dirty Martini, Little Brooklyn, and boy-lesque star Tigger--they even performed the very first all Led Zeppelin Burlesque show!
Well, now L'Pow! is in our moist and womblike cocoon, gestating toward a rebirth as whole new glorious butterfly!
As Francois is with us no more (working hard at his own projects for sure), we are changing the name (stay tuned) but the rest of the troupe remains--fired up and inspired to give to the whole world more and greater burlesque spectacles.
Keep watching this space for further developments.
Accept no substitutions--Orchestra L'Pow! baby.
