Orchestra Nostalgico contains members of Tango No. 9, Club Foot Orchestra, and other Bay Area luminaries to create their eclectic take on film scores, especially the scores that Nino Rota wrote for many of Fellini’s films.

From its birth in San Francisco's swanky Bruno's nightclub, the 9-piece Orchestra Nostalgico has received rave reviews for its blend of faithful and eclectic interpretations lovingly drawn from the Golden Age of film music.
The Orchestra was originally commissioned to bring the classic cinematic compositions of Nino Rota – from Fellini's La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2, Amarcord, as well as Coppola's Godfather trilogy - to the eager ears of San Francisco's
young hipsters. The swingin' spy music of John Barry (James Bond films), a medley of music by Ennio Morricone and original compositions by the Orchestra's members fill out the repertoire.
The group's first CD "Orchestra Nostalgico Plays The Music Of Nino Rota" has
enjoyed sell-out success in the Bay Area, and has also been tapped for a number of independent film and video productions based on its own unique musical merits.
Deliciously retro, yet decidedly modern, Orchestra Nostalgico's jaunty angle on timeless film music adds a touch of class to any social event

Reveiws:
"Orchestra Nostalgico - Nino wrote 'em"
- Adam Savetsky, S.F. Bay Guardian 8/16/2000
Orchestra Nostalgico specializes in the music of Nino Rota, who himself specialized in writing film scores for such Federico Fellini classics as 8 1/2, Amarcord, and La Dolce Vita. Essentially, Orchestra Nostalgico take Rota's capricious, emotionally complex, worldly pieces, and create their own wise-ass jazz interpretations from them. In other words, you couldn't find a band more indicative of our dynamic and fractured local music scene than this nine-piece band of musical mercenaries born from the ashes of the old Club Foot Orchestra.
Bruno's, with its quasi-futuristic, retro-lounge aesthetic, provides a perfect venue for anything glitzy and/or large and offbeat; audience members can rub up against the musician as s/he plays before the blue upholstered backdrop and stares into the room's ancient brick wall. To everyone's delight at a recent gig, Orchestra Nostalgico offered three sets of funny bone-tickling, deadly earnest soundtracks. On top of the Rota scores, the band also performed a medley of popular James Bond themes, as well as the classic Ennio Morricone score to the spaghetti western Once Upon A Time In The West.
One of the more beautiful aspects of the show was listening to the players move flawlessly in and out of ensemble, feature, and solo roles. If you closed your eyes, you could have easily missed where the clarinet melody ended and the violin began. Guitarist Steve Kirk peeled off crackling leads and classic jazz chordings while piano player Joshua Brody offered some campy horror-flick moments when he switched to a little Casio-like instrument. Meanwhile, trumpeter Chris Grady reeled off effusive, high-energy solos all night.
Violinist Catharine Clune set the darkly forested tone on the vaguely Japanese "Notturno O Mattutino". "The Pickup from The Godfather" was especially eerie - as if someone were being set up for a fall. "CCCC" was a sunny sort of tango with a familiar passage played at breakneck speed, and "Nostalgico Swing I and II" were wacky Star Wars-bar jazz pieces that elicited open smiles from the assembled.

Regarding Orchestra Nostalgico's performance at Felliniana: Seattle 2003:
"...It was also my great pleasure to suggest to
conference organizers that they invite Orchestra
Nostalgico of San Francisco, to perform at the
opening gala. The band (formerly known as Club Foot
Orchestra) has recorded a delightful CD of
Nino Rota music from Fellini films which they
skillfully performed that evening. They also
performed a set of music specially arranged for
Orchestra Nostalgico by Nicola Piovani,
who composed the music for three, late
Fellini films. Read more about the band and
purchase their masterful CD of Nino Rota music availabe on Rastascan Records..."
