Based on a shared a penchant for Brazilian music and a desire to create a multi-genre sound, guitarist Matthew Joy, and percussionist/pianist Brian O'Neil, began collaborating in the winter of 2007. After going through a number of permutations in the quartet the group soon took shape taking on board Bassist Alec Derian and Clarinetist/Flutist/Saxophonist Alec Spiegelman.
The wonderful thing about the group is it's fearlessness to draw from so many styles. Matthew Joy, the groups primary composer, writes music that feeds off the sounds of contemporary Jazz, Brazilian, World, Folk, Country, Rock, and Classical music. The group's interpretation and masterful playing create a pan geographical fusion of music taking listeners on a boundless musical Journey.
For the past year Orchestra of This has been performing on the Boston and New York scene building a strong following of listeners and friends. The group will be working on a full length CD this winter so do stay tuned for that outcome.
