Oresund, meaning “The Sound” is exactly what this Auckland four piece is all about. Taking elements of jazz, dance, and rock, the band has developed a sound with searing guitar lead lines, a driving rhythm section with a huge bass presence, and solid, controlled drumming. Jordan’s vocals are strong and crisp, and his range allows him to transition from laidback lyrical musings to full blown epic choruses.
Oresund excel as a unit, and this is where their true strength lies. They use layering to thicken their music, yet give each other enough space to achieve a distinct clarity that separates them from many other bands.
Soon after forming in 2005 under the name "Sons of Darragh", the boys set to writing and decided to have a go in the National Rockquest competition. After reaching the regional finals, they entered again in 2006, this time attaining a place in the top 12 in New Zealand. Since then they have supported the likes of Elemenop, Steriogram, Mumsdollar, Rapture Ruckus and Trigger Theory.
With the new bandname and fresh approach, Oresund are now looking to stamp their mark on the NZ music industry and show that they are truly a force to be reckoned with.

To prove that girls rock, The Rickshaws are teaming up with Goon, Disco de Soto and Litvak Attack – all featuring at least one chick. To celebrate girls get free entry – boys, you can dress up as a girl. Or pay the ‘get out of jail free’ fee of $10. It will be well worth it. Nb. The Rickshaws take no responsibility for guys dressed as girls if they choose to hang out on K’rd.
