Heroes
There are no heroes really, just go do it yourself. You could always check out George Tabb though, not so much a hero, more one of our own (an old school zine guy, creator, punk rock activist and giver) who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and through no fault of his own is now getting the crap end of the stick and no help from his own government. This isn't some political statement from us, this isn't us making a statement about terrorism or American policy or anything other than us shouting about a zine guy who put a lot in to the underground and who now needs our help a little more then you bands and labels do - go check his page, you'll find it there in our top friends... just go see and then take a moment to spread the word a little, questions things, demand help for George Tabb before its too late, stick his profile in your top friends, blog, link, shout, do - everyone of you bands, labels, promoters who ever got some support from a zine, a zine guy needs you now please...

ORGAN and everything we do can be found over at ORGANART.NET
Go to www.organart.net if you really want to know about Organ and everything we do... My Space is just one of the many doorways. This is just My Space, this is not our website, just one of the doorways to our website. My Space is a useful tool of communication if you use it right, that's all it is though, My Space is not the Organ frontline...
Is Organ a male or female? I don't know, we have to tick one box or the other over there on the profile introduction, you tell me... Organ is 22 now though...
And now a message from our sponsor..
"if you have something you think we should be covering and playing then feel free to do the old school thing and snail mail it in - grabbing 30 seconds of compressed to hell compromised sound via your My Space page while phones are ringing and we're trying to do other things on the computer and such, is no way to check out a new band properly. You need to put just a little more oldschool effort in and get your music out there... have a nice day now, Love, Captain Flak". (Trumpton or somewhere near)
HISTORY TIME...
ORGAN started out as an oldschool handmade hand-painted fractured D.I.Y zine back in the last century - November 86 if you really want to know. Somewhere along the line, instead of folding afer a couple of issues like most zines from back then did, Organ evolved in to a full on magazine, a record label called ORG... and then, later on, a website, a weekly FM radio show, a TV show and more...
We started a tape label that became a full on record label called ORG - loads of bands have emerged via ORG since the first bit of 7" vinyl in '94... albums, singles and a whole load of releases from bands and such...
...we're still messy and DIY is spirit and still rather defiant... It all comes rather naturally, we're still shouting, we're still not going to toe the line...
...we've been doing this Organ thing longer than most and we'll probably be here doing it long after most others have given up or worse still, have allowed themselves to be sucked up in to the mainstream music business rather than building a real alternative...
ORGAN MAGAZINE is currently weekly at organart.com, a new issue goes on line every Thursday afternoon. There's also daily alternative music news on the site...
ORGAN MAGAZINE is about throwing up signposts and pointing you towards all the good exciting music being made by good people all over the world, you'll find new signposts going up everyday over on the website at organart.com - signposts and links at the end of the reviews, news stories and radio playlists that point you towards all the wholesome earfood, art and creatvity, all the alternatives that are out there waiting for you
We like to avoid pigeon holes, our musical tastes are all over the place - that's what real punk rock should be - for far too many now just see everything as an MTV fashion parade - time to take it back! Music and the associated culture that evolves around the music should not be under the thumb of the corporations, there is a different way... first you need to communicate. To us Punk rock is a way of thinking, a state of mind, not a sound, a fashion or a free sticker.
ORGAN ON YOUR RADIO @ RESONANCE 104.4FM
...we have a weekly ORGAN RADIO SHOW on London's best radio station RESONANCE 104.4 FM - Sunday nights, 9.00pm. Rest of the world can hear it via www.resonancefm.com - check out our blogs for playlists and details, check Resonance anyway, loads of good stuff to hear on there besides us...
Oh and we put gigs on when we feel like it - I'm guessing there's been over 500 Organ shows in London already, probably nearer to a thousand. Most of your favourite bands have played on Organ bills when they were small and had no friends/fans - one day we'll write the book and tell of all the filth and chaos and the fights and...
ORG RECORDS, ORGANART.NET, ORGAN RADIO, ORGAN TV and ORGAN MAGAZINE is run in a different way, our own way, with our own set of rules...
GETTING US TO LISTEN TO YOUR STUFF...

ORGAN REVIEW POLICY
The facts are simple - we listen to everything that turns up here. We only have the time and space and inclination to tell people about the things we're positive about though - the things that excite us, the things we want to share and really want you to make the effort to check out, the things we want to shout our opinionated big mouths off about. We can't be here wasting time and cluttering up space writing about the crap, the uninspired, the watered down conformists and the many dreadfully dull things that we encounter. We're here for the really exciting life-changing music, the challenging rewarding bands who are doing it for the right reasons. Music is better than ever if you make an effort to go out and find it. You have to make the effort though...
STILL WANT TO SEND SOMETHING TO US NOW YOU'VE READ THE POLICY?
Good! But remember, that's totally up to you, you're more than welcome to send something in if YOU want to - but hey, we NEVER ask anyone to send anything in, if you want to then that is YOUR choice, we do not request material. We don't promise anything to anyone other than the promise to listen/read/checkout whatever comes our way with an open mind - every track, and if we don't like it first time it goes back on the pile for a second chance and then a third and.... If we have something positive to say then you'll get some coverage on line or in print or on air, if we don't then we pass it on to someone who might like it...
CHECKING OUT MATERIAL ON LINE OR HERE AT MY SPACE -
there just isn't enough time in the day. Everyday hundreds of bands we've never heard of ask to be added to our friends list or ask us to check out tracks on My Space. We do check out lots of bands on my Space when we have some reason to be curious about a band - there is not enough time to just randomly check out every band though. If you send is a friends request then we usuually click on your page, take in about five seconds (invite you to subsctibe to our blog - hey you asked to be added to our friends list, that blog tells you lots about what we're doing, we assume that you asked to be added because you're interested in what we do). if you want our attention or coverage then send something in via good old snail mail. Send something in we'll listen to it properly - you get full attention and maybe some really helpful positive coverage, airplay and maybe even more.. choice is yours - all you bands who think that all you need to do is put up a My Space page then sit back and wait for everyone to come to you are... well, work it out yourselves...
All very simple... Enjoy your Organ now...

Who I'd like to meet: That's in the hands of you - people with creative energy and who want to give as well as take - people who are REALLY interested, PEOPLE WHO REALLY CARE. We don't want to hear from bands who think we're just a stepping stone or a career option and we're really not interested in just being marketing at by you so don't do it.... AND IF YOU JUST WISH TO SPAM US WITH CLUELESS VOTE FOR THIS OR THAT MESSAGES THEN WE DO NOT WANT TO MEET YOU!
Organ is for people who need to find the alternatives, underground music - the music is always better down here in the dirt if you're prepared to make the effort and get involved rather than just being another consummer of marketed product... Organ is about thinking for yourselves and being involved - life becomes far more interesting, and so does the music that forms the soundtrack that goes with your life, when you actually get involved
We want to hear from all you bands, labels, zines, creative minds and real people who are actually doing it for the right reasons... but NOT from those who just want to take without giving anything back, we're more interested in those who contribute to things rather than just thinking the whole world revolves around their band. We are not here to help your career and we are NOT a marketing tool for your sold out soulless product pushing
NWOBHM Book - NO SLEEP TILL SALTBURN is OUT now in paperback exclusively at lulu.com.
Featuring seminal North East UK acts, Black Rose, Battleaxe, Satan, Raven, Arizona, Holland and more. Along with Brit Metal kings Saxon and Def Leppard, this affectionate look back at the truly Golden Age Of Rock & Roll documents Mark Gregory's chaotic excursions into fanzine publication, concert promotions, band management and rock radio presentation, against the backdrop of industrial North East England in the early 80s. Here's what the critics say:
“Saltburn, Salford, Salisbury, or Southampton, if you followed any local music scene back in the day, this is a must read!” MIKE SWEENEY: ROCK RADIO - “Bloody Brilliant! Great use of pyro!” GARY PHILIPSON: TFM RADIO - “I was captivated. A really, good read”. LISA MCCORMICK: BBC TEES - “No Sleep Till Saltburn is an important book. It captures an untold story, and also gives you an insight into the humour, the 'Carry On' atmosphere of the time”. CHRIS PHIPPS: ROCK MUSIC HISTORIAN, ITV
NO SLEEP TILL SALTBURN features coverage of Satan's legendary appearances at The Dynamo Eindhoven in 1983 and you can buy it in paperback now at:
Dear Sean O. I truly will never be able to thank you enough for never forgetting about a fella who has put decades into the scene.
Here's my latest blog with a link to his most recent interview and a petition he and I am begging everyone who's a registered American voter to sign. It could help George himself as well as a lot of other people.
Dedicated to all you Organ fans out there who'd forgotten where old school heavy metal still Rips 'n rages...yeah...15 miles up the road from 'ere y'bastards.
