MOORE BLACK was born and raised in Nigeria (West Africa)
where music & dance are part of everyday life.
Writing prolifically from a very young age,
Moore's lyrics encompass cultural, social, political & environmental issues.
His songwriting & arrangements are his own unique seductive stamp on the Reggae genre.
Moore's first studio experience was in 1983, he knew then what his purpose was!
After leaving Nigeria for Europe in the early 90's, Moore began working as a street musician.
He landed work in various clubs as an MC, and finally formed a Reggae band "Stir it Up"
to tour constantly around Greece,
they were especially in great demand throughout summers around the Greek Islands.
Since arriving in Australia in 1999, Moore formed his first Reggae outfit
"Moore Black & the Reggae Rhythms", bringing his own brand of Reggae to the local pub circuit.
In 2003 Moore's song "Dance mi Ragga" made it into the top 10
"World Music" category
and in 2004 Moore's song "One More Time" made it in the top 20
"World Music" category for the for the "Musicoz" awards (Australia wide).
Moore now fronts the culturally diverse Reggae band Organic Roots
that he assembled in 2004.
The name was inspired from issues that need order & purifying.
Serendipity delivered a culturally diverse collection of musicians
that bring a wealth of talent to the Organic Roots lineup.
The Organic Roots band members hail from all corners of the globe
-Africa, Japan, Europe & South America.
Nowadays, Moore has fused his own eclectic & vibrant mix of style of Samba, Calypso, & Reggae with a portion of Dub and Nyabingi ( African drumbeats, Chanting, Rap & Spoken word).
Moore Black & The Organic Roots transport a Conscious & Spiritual
message wrapped in material sound!
While their conscious lyrics leave the crowd in a "feel good" mood
it is the dynamic energy & pulsating rhythms that they deliver with each performance
that keeps the crowd from sitting still!
