The Organik Trio is a swinging 3 piece band featuring a real Hammond, guitar and drums. The band was formed in 2006 and mix originals, standards with a Hammond twist and classic newer tunes such as the Police’s ‘Roxanne’ and a version of ‘You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling’ with full Bossa treatment! The band lists their influences as Jimmy Smith, George Benson, Peter Bernstein, Sheryl Bailey, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Grant Green and the Deep Blue Organ Trio.
The band made its jazz festival debut at Newark in 2008 and have subsequently been put forward for the PRSF Promoter’s Choice Award following their performance.
The trio features Wendy Kirkland on Hammond. Wendy uses the Hammond XK3 Organ system and Leslie rotary speaker - the setup that sounds as near to the B3 without having to own a Transit and several monkeys to shift it.
Wendy has featured in the Times top 5 jazz gigs and has played live on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
Pat Sprakes is an exceptional guitarist who has played many of the UK’s leading festivals including Brecon, Edinburgh, Cheltenham, Manchester and Hull.
Ian Beestin enjoys swing, latin and funk drumming, essential in the Organik Trio. Ian’s jazz festival performances this year include Manchester, Newark, Southport and Burton Agnes.
The three musicians are keen to promote their trio on the UK jazz scene and will engage audiences with this classic instrumental line up.

Cool! Well, every weekend is a social whirl for me (going to a wedding tomorrow as well). Don't think I can make the Sunday gig. That Chesterfield gig will be on my dad's birthday - I may drag him out for a bit of jazz. Cheers, Stew
