'Organ Morgan' started life as Jim Morgan performing solo spacey psychedelic improvisations on his Hammond organ, Leslie speaker and tape echo in 2005 at venues such as Scaledown club at the King & Queen in Soho (this set was later broadcast on Resonance FM).
Then Jim put a full band together, when he was invited to perform at a Syd Barrett tribute night at the Social in 2006 (supporting Mr David Viner, and the Lea Shores), augmenting the sound of his vintage keyboards with drums and bass guitar. Luckily he knew a highly talented drummer in the shape of Alex de Renzi. Bass was played by Mark Braby and then Justin Selway at the first few gigs. But then friend Phil Istine, who had heard the group and been knocked out by their unique sound, was recruited. After a successful debut they were invited back to the Social to do an Arthur Lee tribute night the following month (supporting the Duke Spirit). For this gig Luis Almau joined them on flute for a couple of 'Da Capo' era Love covers. Then, they stopped waiting for famous musical icons to die and have since performed at club nights such as the Acid Gallery, Original Outsider, Fab! club, Midnight to Six, and other venues including Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, the Borderline, the Horse Hospital, the George Tavern. A note on the tracks on this page: they were recorded and produced by Organ Morgan, with the help of Peter from the Treliks who engineered and lent us equipment. Organ Morgan will be doing some more recording soon, and might increase their recording budget from £0 this time.
Forgive the self-publicity, but we've just uploaded a new song called "Footsteps" onto our page, and we are very proud of it. Give it a listen if you get the chance.
