| General | A couple of years ago, one of my favorite students ever said, "Uh, I like this movie because I really like stuff that makes fun of other stuff." Amen, brother. | | Music | Okay, so I'll admit I like some bad music. Don't judge me. For some reason there's just something about the second Uniform Choice album - you know, the cheesy metal one - that keeps me coming back. Of course, everytime I pull it back out, something bad seems to happen in my life, and then I have to keep listening until my problem's over. So obviously, I've come to the conclusion that Pat Dubar has the power to bring about and resolve personal crises. That's why I only listen to that record now when I'm already sufficiently fucked and things can't really get much worse. | | Movies | So everyone always asks me what my favorite movie is, since I'm supposed to be some sort of an authority, and I always answer "Dr. Strangelove." But somehow everytime I need an example of something for a class, I keep pulling out The Graduate. I think there's a running joke that if you take every class I offer, you'll eventually watch the whole thing out of order. | | Books | Catch-22 is one of my favorite books. But even though I've read 2/3 of it at least twice, I still haven't finished it. Ditto for The Brothers Karamozov. That pretty much sums up my pathetic record with the written word. | | Heroes | Anyone who adds me as a myspace friend. You are the real heroes. |

About me:
Umm... I grew up in St. Louis, MO. First I did that, then I did a straight-edge fanzine (it's what everyone was doing at the time), then I went to Philadelphia, then I came back to St.L, then I played some punk rock, then I moved to DC, then I went to film school, then I moved to Baltimore, then I moved to Texas, then I came back to St.L, now I teach film students and make documentaries. Apparently my life to this point is an epic run-on sentence.
