Oriana was born and raised in Toronto, a city girl who loves bright lights and busy streets. She discovered her love for singing early, and at a young age her friends began to point out to her that she had a wonderful voice. As young as age 6, Oriana was singing for friends and family at birthday parties, school plays and family functions. 2 years ago she completed her debut album titled Anticipation, a collection of original tracks detailing Oriana’s life and experiences. It is an urban blend of RnB, Soul and Pop with a smooth sound that is strong and unique. This album is a revealing and intimate look into the events and emotions that have contributed to Oriana’s continual growth and development as a person. Oriana has been performing Anticipation through several mediums from lounges to pubs and even theatre. She has worked with artists such as RnB girl group X-Quisite, Producer Dre Knight of the Narcotics, and has written hit singles with Hip Hop artists Set2 (Don’t Bother) and JR Writer (Looney). She has also contributed her vocals on the hooks and backgrounds of original tracks for other various artists. Last year Oriana entertained a full house at Circa night club when she opened for RnB hit-maker T-Pain and also performed the national anthems for the Toronto Raptors and Marlies. Aside from her love for performing, Oriana is a writer at heart. She takes pride and comfort in using her songwriting as a medium for her thoughts and emotions, hoping to reach out to her listeners. She uses the beat as her muse, and discovers the theme and melody that is perfect for each song. She is also closely involved in the mixing and arranging of each song, contributing her ear to the development and perfecting of the final product. Duwayne A. Wright of sound|wright pro produced all the music for Oriana’s first album Anticipation, and is Oriana’s writing partner. The duo are currently wrapping up the production of her second album Release, which is due to drop at the end of the summer. It is a contemporary blend of RnB and pop, with a diverse mix of modern sounds and classic concepts while maintaining Oriana’s smooth and unique sound. Other credits on the new album include Special, Set2, Soundsmith and other local artists. The first single to be released off the new album is Addicted, which was produced by Soundsmith, written by Oriana and Blase and recorded at Greystar Studios. Oriana has been performing the hit single around the city and abroad, and it has been extremely well received by audiences. Addicted has been on the top 20 urban radio charts in Europe, has played on Toronto’s Flow 93.5, and is currently No. 26 on ReverbNation’s Soul/RnB charts. Last summer Oriana competed against 7 other bands in a Battle of the Jams at the world famous El Mocambo, and won a $10,000 music video! In April she filmed the official music video for her single Addicted (Soundsmith, Greystar) which was released in HD on August 15, 2009. The video was produced and directed by Landed Entertainments, a film production company located in Toronto www.landedentertainments.com. Oriana looks forward to many other creative collaborations as she moves forward in her career, and continues to learn and grow as a person and musician. She hopes to inspire other young women and show them they can do anything, if they only believe in themselves.
