About me:

Are you tired of places that play the same monotonous radio-friendly music? Do you feel like no matter where you go you don’t quite fit in? If you are looking for something more relaxed and accepting, come check out Original Sin. Occurring on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month, OS spins the best in goth, electro, EBM, and post punk starting at Midnight and going all the way to 4am. Come on down to Valentine's and enjoy their low price drinks, chill out at the bar, or dance the night away to music that is too cool for the mainstream!

Bio:

Original Sin was created in March 2007 when two misfits wished to revive the spirit of the local alternative scene. Since its inception, Original Sin has seen the likes of many incredible bands and guest DJs including: Mankind is Obsolete (LA), Standard Issue Citizen (Troy, NY), The Cruxshadows (Tallahassee, FL), Digital Geist (NYC), Doomsday Virus (Albany), The Azoic (Columbus, OH), Sunset Aside (Albany), I:Scintilla (Chicago), Razorblade Twins (Detroit), DJ Tony from the band Echostream (NYC/NJ), DJ TI-99- formerly DJ Manwhore- (New Haven, CT), Shok (Hollywood), and most recently END: The DJ (Xenomorph Productions).

In these tough economic times, some of these shows wouldn’t have been made possible without joining forces with others, and to these people, we thank you!

Original Sin only has two rules: be respectful towards others and leave your drama at the door! We work hard to provide a pleasant environment for everyone. Requests are highly encouraged and if we don't have a particular song, we will get it before our next night.

So if you are in need of a break from the norm, come check us out at 17 New Scotland Avenue, Albany and remember to SIN LIKE YOU MEAN IT!

Our House DJ's:

DJ Jezebel in Hell

A music geek at heart, Jezebel graduated from the State University of New York at Oswego in 2003 with a BA in Broadcasting & Mass Communications. She hosted a successful radio show on 88.9FM (WNYO) spinning Techno, EBM, and Industrial from 2000-2002. She has worked the radio and television circuit in Syracuse, NY assisting with sales, traffic, and promotions for the local affiliates of K-Rock, NBC, and CBS. Her career as a club DJ started at the short-lived Dead Lovers Serenade at the Half-Penny Pub in late 2006 with DJ Galder (Nekropolis) before relocating to Albany in early 2007. She is one of the co-founders of Original Sin and happy to call Valentine’s her home away from home.

DJ Feral
“No Music, No Dream” - Detroit Metal City

DJ Feral came into the DJ business two years ago without experience, but with an extensive knowledge of music. But it would be safe to say that she was born to spin since some of her family members are DJs (her father a radio DJ, and two cousins have done the club circuit). In 2005, she went to Abyss Gothic Dance Night and met DJ Tym, who would become her mentor, surrogate dad and the occasional pain in the ass (Much love, man, much love). After suggesting some music to Tym, DJ Feral gave him one of her mixes. He listened, and told her to give spinning a try. A year later, when two friends started Original Sin, DJ Feral jumped at the chance to join them. After some tips from Tym and Jez, DJ Feral did her first set, and the rest is history…

DJ Tym

Don't confuse him with a narc who got it wrong- that shadowy graying figure in the corner can only be DJ Tym. Don’t ask how old he is, just know he’s closer to the end then the beginning and happily married longer then you’ve been on this planet. The former "Couchman" of the QE2 days owes his DJ career to the encouragement of the late Penny Green. Hi DJ influences include DJ’s Flyhead, Prep, Terminal, strange?, Ghost, The Baron and his current partners in crime. With a taste for the more melodic, even accused of being poppy, he brings retro Goth to Original Sin with a strong sense that the great tracks of the past should be remembered. As our opener he’s been known to dabble in house, techno and trance, before the arrival of our friends in black.
