The .: Orphic Observance :. , a Co-Fraternal Musicians Chaocracy, stands in the 21st Century to represent a paradigm shift in musical organization. Dispensing with past business models in which "bands"/"groups" of musicians attempt to grab the (perceived) brass ring of corporate deal-signing, the .: O O :. strives to exist entirely outside of both the "Major" & "Indie" label association, which has largely failed to exist successfully since the advent of digital media without resorting to cannibalism. As both the Major & so-called "Independent" music labels have done little to promote genuine growth in the culture of musicianship, choosing instead to perpetuate the most contrived & cancerous forms of it, the .: O O :. and it's Lodge system functions as the locus for research & development into new forms of organizational principle that can assist musicians in what may prove to be one of the most vexing problems in Western music~ that is;
How can a valid culture of musicianship, free from sexism & greed, free from fixations on youth culture & the demands of the Marketplace, manifest and thrive? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * The .: Orphic Observance :. sees the beginnings of an answer to this question in the form of separating the element of Capital from Musical Identity.... that is, to let money assume it's natural place in the scheme of things, without the music needing it to survive. With few exceptions, Orphic Musicians choose a career path outside of musical performance. As examples of genuine, uncompromised integrity in musical groups/artists who earn their living at music are far too few, members of the various Lodges pursue other professions, as this allows for an uncompromised approach to the philosophical & spiritual questions in music~ practices that are virtually impossible when capital enters the equation. Without worrying about if the record company/shareholders/fans will buy the "product", the Orphic Musician is free to command her art without a single thought or care other than if her Muse will approve. Professions in the disciplines associated with musical performance, such as sound engineering, lighting tech., management, etc... are acceptable for membership. The .: O O : . does not "recruit" in the traditional sense, but rather takes it time in aquiring the like-minded individuals it needs to "Hear Itself in the Future".

Of principle interest to the .: O O :. Lodges are philosophical astronomy, astral phenomena & lucid dreaming as well as applied symbolism, dialogue with the Nine Muses of antiquity & music as non-verbal communication par-excellence. While some Lodges may choose to specialize in a given, particular synthesis of interdisciplinary activity, the signature of the Orphic Musician is the desire to balance the humanitarian action of musical performance as a force for Healing and the eschatologically post-human goal of allowing a certain frequency of the living psyche to, beyond one's death, Become Music.
