Every so often a band emerges as if from nowhere armed with a depth of songwriting that is simply stunning. Enter
Ortega…
The six piece from Cannock in the Midlands have been doing what bands do – learning their craft (both live and on record), becoming
names on the
local circuit (selling out their first DIY demos) and building up to their debut release – a single/ep through Co Star Entertainment
set released
in late 2007.
Debut Album “Conversations” is a band at the height of their powers. Driving riffs and synths are mixed with a heavy, taught
rhythm section,
all overlaid with the unique and powerful melodic vocals of Jay Sutton. Rock music with hooks to spare…From the opening ultra
infectious riffs of “Drive” to the anthemic stomp of “I’m A Class A Reason To Put Down Your Needle Part I”, from the
driving guitar
of new single “Check in, Check out,” to the epic melodies of “Save Yourself.” Ortega are a band who have established their own
sound through
their great songwriting. The debut release was put together by Ortega with the help of Frankie (former Days In December, now
Kiss Kiss Bang
Bang), Troy Glessner (UnderOath, Emery, Anberlin and many more) as well as Brandon Rike @ Dark Collar (former Dead Poetic) & Weaver
of Tower
Studios.
Ortega have proved themselves an accomplished live act. Regularly selling out venues in their home base of the Midlands, the
band have also
supported acts such as Men Women and Children, Dopamine, Lights and Sounds and The Blackout. Ortega will be touring the UK to
support the
release of the album.
