Saturday, January 26 Delray Beach ITC, Beck’s Beer, The Buzz, City Limits and TheHoneyComb.com present MAKING A RACQUET (Session 3) SUMMER BLANKET THE MISSION VEO JACOB JEFFRIES BAND (formerly JACOB GROTEN) B-LIMINAL No Cover, 21+, 8pm
Four bands play at City Limits for a panel/committee that will select one of the four to play two sets during the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships. Chosen band from the City Limits event will play at the Delray Beach ITC on Tuesday evening, Feb 12. Night was selected as a premier evening due to very high potential for star power in action on the courts, and also due to special presentation to world-ranked No. 1 Bryan Brothers commemorating their 07 year-end ranking as the best team in the world.
This distinction is usually anointed at the end-of-year World Championships, but the Bryans were not able to play due to one of them being ill, so the ATP Tour has chosen Delray Beach for the ceremony which will happen on Center Court that same night. between matches.
The chosen act will also get 2 songs on a compilation that will be sold with proceeds going to local charities.
The band consists of 3 members of Unwed Sailor and various members of Lovedrug and Ester Drang.
Music at http://www.myspace.com/thebearcolony and some of the latest press:
VICE - "I could easily see myself with a nice woman, walking between the trees around some kind of forest. Good feelings."
SPIN - "Bear Colony plays tug of war between restraint and free-for-all. Recalls an electro-fied Broken Social Scene. It's in the tension between these two points of view, where the urge to let it all go meets the understanding that it can't, that Griffin nestles his voice."
Tripwire - "An interesting blend of cinematic rock with just a hint of electronic beats, making for a progressive sounds that is mighty impressive for a debut."
