Sounds Like
soulgrassfolkrebellion = the soul singers that I listen to; the grass is the green and the blue kind; the folk is the tradition; and the rebellion is in the lyrics.
oso rey is soulgrassfolkrebellion. Not just the music, but the life:
born the grandson of a church-tent-revival singer, and into a family of musicians, teachers,
and preachers. Raised with a deep love of art, music, and literature, oso rey has spent the last
ten years cultivating a sound that is all his own.
..
"Oso Rey is that voice and has this sound for this time. He has a mix of all that was before
(James) Taylor and all that has come after. His music is blues, rock, jazz, contempoary,
bluegrass, funk and classical, which makes it distinctly folk music of the 21st century." -Steven Sabel, Redlands Daily Facts
In his independent pursuit of musical freedom, oso rey has worked as a teacher, a graphic
designer, a sculptor, a bartender, and a carpenter. All of these jobs have allowed oso to develop his
sound and his musical lifestyle at a pace that lends itself to his family and his community.
In doing so, he has been able to retain a certain balance that is reflected in his lyrics.
His soulgrassfolkrebellion started in Santa Cruz, Ca. and has made its way
throughout the west coast the past few years. Highlight performances have been on NBC
and CBS morning shows in Eugene Oregon as well as live performances on 90.7FM KPFK
"Global Village" in Los Angeles. Independent radio stations such as KCRW have featured
his music as well as countless college stations.
Oso rey has shared the stage with the likes of No Doubt, Sublime, Leftover Salmon,
and Fishbone. His music has been featured on MTV's, "Road Rules".

Here is a story...I had a dream...there were 2hawks flying west along the Mtn. side and a rainbow was between them and the Mtn.'s...atop the Mtn. was an object reflecting and was twinkling. a river flowed from me tho the foothills of the Mtn...but I could float upstream insted of down...toward the Mtn. I had somehow climbed the Mtn. and looking down I noticed lions were now prowling the streets. One had seen me from below and began sprinting towards and up the Mtn. so I ran further up. I reached an intense radiant light from the Mtn which I had seen from the ground. The light kept digging itself deeper into the Mtn rock and I dug and dug to get it. All the while radiant shoots of turquoise and peach and red-orange and green were shooting everywhere and it was spectacular. I got ahold of something that felt like a cool glass ball about the size of a golf ball but I could now hear the Lion approaching me from behind. I turned with the object in my hand and it shined an immense light not unlike a searchlight or spotlight. It shined on the lion which was just jumping onto even ground with me and it shined through the lion and revealed that the lion was like a spirit and inside of it was a beautiful girl! She took the object from my hand and a Hawk flew from her with it...like her hand turned into a hawk but when the light was shining up through the sky it became a star. The lion was all I could see because I didn't have the light to see the girl but it said...When fear is chasing you...if you run it will grow....but if you turn and face it, it runs away from you. I bowed and thanked the lion and as it walked away down the Mtn...I then jumped off of the Mtn and could float along the slopes but not entirely up into the sky. I became aware I was dreaming with the sensation of flight and began to fight the feeling of waking up but I woke up very quickly.
