About me: Welcome to Osprey Kindred! We are located in Southern Rhode Island and we are devoted to Asatru, a reconstructionist, ancient, indigenous Northern European peoples' belief system/lifeway, sometimes referred to as Germanic or Norse Heathenry. We are affiliated with the Troth , a national non-profit organization dedicated to furthering knowledge of Asatru and providing community for followers of Asatru.
We strive to honor our Gods and Goddesses by example, in word and deed following the Nine Noble Virtues, as adapted from the Eddas - Courage, Truth, Honor, Troth, Discipline, Hospitality, Industry, Self-Reliance, and Perseverance. Some of our Gods and Goddesses are Odin, Freyja, Njord, Aegir, Ran, Frigga, Frey, Thor, Tyr, Idunna, Heimdall, Balder...We also honor the Landvaettir (landwights or land spirits) and the Disir and Alfar (our ancestors), with whom we develop close relationships, as do most indigenous groups.
Our kindred was organized this year as an outgrowth of Elvedal Hearth, home of our founder, Victoria Snillgaupe Clare. We conduct seasonal rites; often in outdoor, natural settings; enjoy social activities; study of our Lore and ancestors; fundraising and cultural development. Traditional family life and giving youngsters a good example to follow are highly valued.
We are a non-profit corporaton organized in the State of Rhode Island and all of our funding goes toward the furtherance of our belief. All donations to Osprey Kindred, Ltd. are tax deductible.
