Sprung from the fertile musical ground of the early '90s San Diego scene, Heavy Vegetable stood out and apart from their contemporaries with hyperspastic mood-swings mixed with complex melodies and baffling dynamics that made their performances the stuff of legend.
After yielding two groundbreaking records and while at the top of their game, they called it quits. Now, 11 years after their last studio album, the band have reformed as Other Men and seem to have picked up directly from where they left off.
Instead of treading the sounds of the past, Other Men seem intent on creating new sounds from the depths of a played-out genre.
I recieved a compilation at IMS( Independent Music Seminar)by Rockpress, that had Heavy Vegetable on it in 1993. I've been a fan since. I love that you guys are back in such a cool way! The tunes sound even better. This arrangment rocks. PLEASE come to North Carolina!
i drove by the danforth building the other day... ahhhhhh the memories. i still want to know who broke the clay yoda i made... i bet t was Curtice... him and his fucking bird.
i was so out of the loop that i put on the album without even knowing what it was. my eyebrows crinkled at the sounds. i checked the personnel. i said out loud, "ah, that's why."
From then till now I have long awaited the return of the "Vegetable" but I must say the OTHER MEN is the shit of legends. Rock over in London! Rock on Chicago! Other Men was whipping on a mules ass with a belt!
Wake Up Sleeping Is F#%ING BRILLIANT.
You Guys Definitely Haven't Missed A Step & The Fact That 11 Years Have Passed Since Heavy Vegetable Makes It That Much More Amazing.. Rob & Travis Switching Bass & Guitar Has Brought Something Extremely Special To All Of Your Fans. ROBCORE !!!!!!!!
Bagged myself a copy of Wake up swimming the other day & i can't stop playing the damn thing! It's good to hear Rob playing with Manolo & Travis again!

Yes! I have been preaching Heavy Vegetable to anyone that would listen (and a few that wouldn't) for a decade. I still listen to Frisbie all the time. I am SO glad that this is coming out - but what happened to Elea?
