One Tree Hill Fans With Benefit raised $10,023.23
for the National Breast Cancer Foundation!
From March through July 2006, fans of the show "One Tree Hill" joined together in a fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). The fundraiser was organized as a complement to the efforts of our favorite show, which donated a portion of the proceeds from its "Friends With Benefit" soundtrack to the NBCF.
Through direct donations, online fundraising events, and auctions of One Tree Hill memorabilia, we were able to raise $10,023.23 for this very worthy cause, in addition to bringing an important issue to the forefront, that of breast cancer awareness and education. While our fundraiser is officially over, we continue to support the efforts of the NBCF, and encourage One Tree Hill fans to donate directly!
In addition, beginning March 1 and running through early May, we launched the "There Is Only One Tree Hill" Mail Campaign to show our love, loyalty and belief in our show, which was aimed toward the newly merged network, The CW. Thousands of letters and postcards were mailed to the network in hopes of getting our show chosen for the new network's line up and renewed for a season four, and happily on May 18, 2006 we were officially renewed!
OTH Fans With Benefit would like to thank the many people who donated, participated, bid on auctions, wrote letters, and joined in our efforts.

From the beginning, One Tree Hill has been one show with a special purpose. Centering around two brothers, family, and friends, it has touched many, by bringing to television, characters and stories people care about and can relate to. One such moving story dealt with the mother of one of the teens, finding out she had breast cancer and courageously dealing with it, until quietly she lost her personal battle with the disease. One Tree Hill was responsible enough to bring the realism of breast cancer to its viewers, showing compassion and honesty in its thoughtful handling of this story. The show went one step further by releasing a soundtrack entitled Friends With Benefit, a compilation of some of the engaging music played on the show, generously donating part of the proceeds from its sales to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
One show. Touching people, reaching people…and even educating people.
One Voice
We are those people. We are that one voice. We are the fans and caring viewers of this show because its distinctive storytelling and relatable characters reach us. One Tree Hill brings to life real events and concerns we have been affected by, or will be affected by in our lifetime. Meaningful stories like the one about breast cancer connect with us.
As One Tree Hill Fans With Benefit…we proudly know our show is rare, for it not only reaches us, it motivates us to do more.
One Cause
That is why we now come together for this one cause. One Tree Hill informed us breast cancer is a fact of life that affects everyone. You may already know someone dealing with it, or if not, you may in the future. It could be a friend, a relative, an acquaintance. Maybe you know someone who has survived breast cancer or succumbed to it. Maybe you are personally dealing with the disease. It is important that we stay informed and educate ourselves as our show has impelled us to do so.
Statistically this year in America alone, more than 211,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 43,300 will die; 1,600 men will be diagnosed with the disease and 400 will die. One woman in seven either has or will develop breast cancer in her lifetime; yet 13 million U.S. women 40 and older have never had a mammogram. (1)
These facts can be alarming, but we are not powerless. Statistics also show that through early detection a woman has a 95% chance of a five year survival rate. In fact, 96% of the women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer free after five years. Also over 80% of breast lumps are not cancerous, but benign. (2) As you can see, knowledge about breast cancer can be essential and empowering. At this time, it is vital we take our one united voice and do what we can to raise both awareness and money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. This inspiring foundation works diligently to educate all about breast cancer, encouraging early detection while also supporting medical research to help treat and find a cure for the disease.
Rest assured that 100% of any donation you give to One Tree Hill Fans With Benefit will go directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Understand that with your one voice, you will help others, maybe even someone you know, possibly even yourself, in a mission to reach all people affected by breast cancer. Talk to your friends, your neighbors, your family, your coworkers, your schoolmates, and keep them informed. Show them the friends with benefit site (www.othfanswithbenefit.com) and ask them to join with us in support of this important cause. Feel confident that by donating to this fundraiser, your voice has been heard, and you have made a positive difference.
We appreciate your support and thank you for taking part in this worthy cause. Next time you watch One Tree Hill and it touches you, know that you have touched someone with your generosity.
One Show…One Voice…One Cause
Together…we will affect lives. Together…we will better lives. Together…we will secure lives.
