OTH010 - DDAY ONE | GLEN PORTER - "WAVELENGTH" 10" PIC DISC

Wavelengths is a limited 10" picture disc featuring beatmakers Dday One and Glen Porter (who are both working on full-length projects for 2011). The "Wavelengths" 10" is a sample-based interpretation of the four brainwave patterns (Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta) that our minds shift through daily. The sound-scape begins with Los Angeles based producer Dday One's "Between Poles." The heaviness of the breaks represent the harsh reality of Beta, known as the waking state. With "Fall Forward," we descend to Alpha, the wave of relaxation, but not quite meditation, the gateway to deeper states. Through the process of manually manipulating subbass frequencies, staccato strings and Theremin tones, Glen Porter constructs the "Dream." This elusive and mysterious epic sits in the range of Theta, known as the twilight state of dreamlike imagery and long forgotten memories. At the point of regeneration, known as Delta, Porter moves beyond the depths of the subconscious and REM sleep with "Prehistoric Cowgirl." The picture disc contains original still-life photography by Dday One inspired by the songs "Between Poles" and "Dream." 180 gram vinyl, limited to 300 copies hand-numbered by the artists.

OTH007 - FACTOR - 13 STORIES (A PRELUDE) CD (OUT NOW)

In a far-gone age, in the great oral tradition, stories, legends, myths and fables were told and retold from generation to generation. These stories were often told to entertain on cold nights after long hunts or battles. Fast-forward to 2010 where the stories remain entertaining but the context in which they are told is vastly different. These 13 Stories are best enjoyed while relaxing and enjoying a cold beer, a scotch on ice or some of the finest cannabis sativa.

Factor returns with 13 finely crafted beats providing a perfect landscape for the sixteen storytellers to tell their stories in verse and rhyme. The album begins with what is sure to be a certified classic, “Sounds Good to Me (Hip Hop)”, featuring the trio of rhyme writers Ellay Khule, Medusa and Joe Dub.

Factor reunites with some familiar faces with tracks featuring Existereo, Noah 23, Sunspot Jonz and Awol One who teams up with Sole on the eerie track “Don’t Jock the Dead”. It also includes some new collaborations with the likes of Oldominion’s Onry Ozzborn and Sleep who offer contrasting styles to tell their stories. New appearances include Icon the Mic King with “Vicious Cycle” and perennial Project Blowedian NoCanDo with “Tell Me”. The rest of the Side Road Records family rounds out the album providing that classic sound listeners have grown to love.

13 Stories will have listeners bobbing their heads and enjoying a more classic hip hop sound. Although it is more traditional in production, you can be assured that Factor delivers with his signature sound that has him known all over the globe.
