time is strange. It's quantified by a specific measurement based on rotational bodies; however, it is relative. Relativity can be a hard thing to wrap one's head around but I realize it when time tells me I'm 32 but my brain has me between the ages of 7 and 70.
  • Music

Cacophony is not solace. It's annoyance represented sonically. I appreciate silence. And repetition is insanity.
  • Movies

apparently I need to see the movie Volcano.
  • Books

I'm attempting to read some english translations of Moliere. It's a little difficult for me because I can't help knowing I'm missing out on poetic nuances by not being able to read and understand it in French.

About me:

I am human thus I operate according to human nature.

I enjoy writing, reading, observing, being a parent and wandering around outdoors. Music is my passion and my daughter is my pride and my ultimate responsibility.

I am particular about my preferences. I hate when subpar bands attempt technicality. It ends up an obvious mishmash of slapped together bullshit. True musicians know how to run a line of cohesion through a piece.

I detest bands that can't fucking tell that their guitars are out-of-tune. I hate it even more when they audibly attempt to tune. It's obnoxious and unpresentable by an amateur or novice, although I have seen it utilized as a tool to great effect. They make these nifty little things they can plug their guitars into called "pitch tuners" that cost under $30.

I like good composition. Simplicity can be badass in its complexity. I think it's more impressive to see what a musician can accomplish within a strict parameters. Especially drummers. Those giagantic kits don't impress me one bit because it affords limitless possibilities of combos and encourages laziness. Throw that metal drummer on a stripped-down jazz kit and make him slow down. More often than not, he'll get pissed because he doesn't know what to do.

I love polyrhythms. I dig sneaky meter changes. I adore dynamics. Not enough people utilize tempo changes, as far as I am concerned. I like grooves. I like accents on upbeats.
..I like a nice snappy snare sound. I like hollow body electric guitar tones. Old geetars make such beautiful sounds. Generally I find digital effects make weak tones but I've heard them tweaked to a point where they have almost hit the holy grail of sounding analog. But i find I only really detest the sound on recordings and when guitar players use them as a crutch. Recording analog without all the pro-tools tinkering really proves a band's chops and it sound so much better than all that uber-compressed shit everyone pumps out these days.

I am a vocalist but i still consider myself a musician. I hate one note wonders. Any fool motherfucker can scream or yell the same fucking note in a rhythmical pattern but it takes an artist to vocalize. I also hate when vocalists lack the ability to nuture their own voice. They instead imitate what they worship, blatantly infringing upon the style, tones, and phrasings of their favorite singer. It's one thing to inadvertently sponge, or pay homage, but I find meretricious imitation absolutely disgusting.

I hate rockstars and wanna be rockstars. Rockstars don't make music from the heart. They make it for their dick. This is why I have given up being in a committed band relationship. I make music to please myself and if someone happens to relate, well, good for them. I am glad I could provide provacation. Everyone else can fuck off. Leave me alone. I do not desire nor do I need your praise, acceptance or criticism.

And for the record, every cocky-ass musician I've crossed or have yet to cross should keep in mind that there is ALWAYS someone better than you out there and that there is no such thing as mastery of music because the potential for progression is limitless, at least in a human lifespan.

and also: I have awesome friends.

But I hate people.

I quoted Mae West in my 6th Grade "America the Beautiful" musical.

While the choir sang "Proud to be an American" I stepped to the microphone and said (in my best Mae West impression): "America is like a big shaggy dog in a small room.
Every time he wags his tail, he knocks over a chair!"

    just saw the best quote:

"I refuse to have a battle of wits with someone who is unarmed"

So how long will it take me to get those pictures from ya?
If you sign up for a photobucket account, it takes about 10 minutes for the entire uploading process. And then you can just send me a link to the album!! You should put some birthday pictures up there while you're at it! Love you! I CANNOT WAIT to do that again. No joke.
