About Otley Folk Festival
The market town of Otley lies in picturesque Wharfedale on the A660 six miles from Ilkley and ten from Leeds. Menston Railway Station is only three miles away. The town is well supplied with shops, restaurants, take-aways, and supermarkets as well as the Friday/Saturday Market. There are fifteen pubs - all serving cask conditioned ale - and most are used by the folk festival over the weekend. All of our venues have real-ale bars except the Methodist Hall which serves excellent cakes, buns, tea and coffee, soft drinks and savoury snacks.
This year we are celebrating the 18th Otley Folk Festival and we are pleased to announce that,
once again, folk legend
Nic Jones has agreed to be our patron. Our festival has grown into one of the most popular festivals in Britain. With its many venues - pubs and clubs plus various rooms and back-yards around the town - we try to make sure that there is always something to entertain our growing band of eager folk festival followers.

This year's festival (17-20 September 2009) may be a little different from previous years. Due to the potential closure of the Civic Centre, this year's event may have more of a community feel to it. The same festival atmosphere with lots going on in and around the town and our main venues will include; The Courthouse, Korks Wine Bar, The Rugby Club, The Cricket Club and The Methodist Hall. The pubs are all 'on board' so for those people who like to come and do the sessions, there will be no difference. The campsite and camping facilities will remain at Knotford Nook and camping will be the same price as last year.
