National Novel Writing Month is just around the corner! YAY! I've signed up for my 4th year in a row: 50,000 words in 30 days, here I come!
I'm planning to do a fantasy this year. Looking into the past history of Planet Crystonia this time around. No idea where it'll take me, but aiming for 100k instead of 50k to beat last year's 75k.
First, a big thanks goes out to everyone who supported the one-year anniversary of On TheOther Side Of The Eye last month. There's been so much good news and progress made, and I'm looking forward to the coming years ahead with you.
I'm now announcing that to celebrate the 2nd anniversary in 2009, we're going back to where it all started with a very special art exhibit and a series of special events at the J&S Bean Factory at 1342 Thomas Ave. in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Between 2005-2007, I wrote and organized the final elements that would ultimately become On The Other Side Of The Eye, the first full-length book of Laotian American speculative poetry in the world. It's a great space in the Midway area of St. Paul.
This last weekend I learned another writer had also finished his first book there recently while enjoying the coffee, food and amenities at the J&S Bean Factory. If you get a chance to, stop by there, and tell them I said hello!
The exhibit, Beyond The Other Side Of The Eye, will feature the work of several artists who were inspired by the book, in both photography, illustration and painting, as well as poems and other mediums. There will also be readings and workshops throughout the month to celebrate!
There are still a few spaces open for artists who are interested in participating in the exhibit! If you're interested drop a line to me at thaoworra@gmail. com and we can discuss the additional details!
Thank you for being my friend and taking the time to listen to my music - means allot to me, I'm honored! If you want to show your support for local music, check out the Vietnamese Summer Festival this weekend, I'll be there performing and have my EP to buy!

At The Asian American Studies Conference A quick heads up for anyone who's hoping to pick up a copy of On The Other Side Of The Eye while at the Association for Asian American Studies conference next week:
The good news is that On The Other Side of the Eye has been selling!
Big thank yooooooooooous to all of you wonderful people who've gotten your copy already!
The bad news: I'm down to only 30 copies left at the moment while the new run is being printed, and between now and next week I've got 2 other major readings in Wisconsin, including Green Bay, La Crosse and a trip to Madison and Milwaukee coming up.
But if you get me a heads up by Wednesday, I can easily set aside a copy for you by the time we get to Chicago, and we'll deal with all the small details there!
Wishing you all of my very best!
This year's conference theme is: "Where is the “Heart” of Asian America? Troubling “American Identity and Exceptionalism in an Age of Globalization and Imperialism" and you can learn more at http://aaastudies. org
In December, 2003, Unarmed, the adventurous poetry journal, printed their 6th chapbook, my collection of poems known as The Tuk Tuk Diaries: My Dinner With Clusterbombs.
Composed of 13 poems based on my experiences and initial impressions from my first visit back to Laos and Southeast Asia in 30 years, it was printed in a very limited quantity (fewer than 400) and they were given away for free as part of the underground guerrilla poetry scene of the Twin Cities at the time.
Recently, I found a very small stack of 30 copies that were tucked away, and as a thank you to my friends and readers, I'll mail you a free copy as long as supplies last.
Just drop me a message and I'll set one aside for you!
