BooksXXXVII :: ALBUM of the moment (15 08 2009): BIBIO - Ambivalence Avenue (Warp): Extremely compact album that lures with the promise of pleasure from a to z. Stephen Wilkinson involves haunting melodies borrowed from the naive collective memory and returns its to our oversaturate reality which can't resist the fulfilment of his work as an implement of a divine plan. Yes, he uses ambivalent model and puts his perfectly connected coordinates in a soundtrackish fashion, proving his act with great facility... (visit LPR 2009) XXXVII :: LABEL of the moment (15 08 2009): BPITCH CONTROL, Ger: stands still revealing the excitement about and around techno music combining nice attributes of mashed electronica, tech/dubby/deep house, technopop, minimal styles.. thus displaying the full spectrum of sound. Ellen Alien's BPitch Control makes it real with the latest releases of Moderat, Kiki, Agf/Delay, Telefon Tel Aviv.. XXXVII :: ARTIST of the moment (15 08 2009): MOCKY: a multi talented musician permanently lost in the wonderland of nice aesthetics... (visit LPR 2009) XXXVII :: CONCERT of the moment (23 08 2009): RADIOHEAD @ Prague, CZ .................................................................................................................... XXXVI :: ALBUM of the moment (10 07 2009): TORTOISE - Beacons Of Ancestorship (Thrill Jockey): Concerning their huge impact in the history of the modern music, it's necessary to put all evident 'post' credentials aside, not even trying to redirect their catalog since you won't get in a real term with the new album which brings up another set of stunning past-to-future instructions. An album that fuses again a correct amount of different fertile personalities in the band, using lots of raw ideas to catch kaleidoscopic quality and timeless signature. Furthermore, BoA sets you in safe hands within deadly effectively organized production that encounters moments of 'can I stay a bit longer here'. You can! Only -now- counts. ................................. XXXVI :: LABEL of the moment (10 07 2009): MORR Music, Ger: VA's Not Given Lightly - A Tribute To the Giant Golden Book Of New Zealand..s Alternative Music Scene, BENNI HEMM HEMM's Murta St. Calunga, MASHA QRELLA's Speak Low... are releases that you'll find in LPR 2009 explaining why this pillar of the indie-pop / indietronics music is in Otsechka's scope again exploring numerous of demanding artists that bring forward unique divine subtlety made in an elegant way with careful decoration (some of them very often emitting luxurious pro rock signals). Bottom line, is the most well known popish label, with bold -ish- in the end. ................................. XXXVI :: ARTIST of the moment (10 07 2009): Mark Nelson: is the man who hides under PAN AMERICAN moniker. His latest release for Kranky - White Bird Release is another highlighted position. His consistent contribution, with six compellingly releases, is the best kept secret in the ambient zone. Real master in the weightless category and true guide to the atmospheric levels.(visit LPR 2009) ................................. XXXVI :: CONCERT of the moment (15 07 2009): Jamie Lidell (special set) @ 5 Days Off, Amsterdam, Nl .................................................................................................................... XXXV :: ALBUM of the moment (15 06 2009): GROUPSHOW: Andrew Pekler, Hanno Leichtmann and Jan Jelinek realized 'The Martyrdom Of Groupshow' for ~scape. Mainly oriented to the background aspect of the music which allows you to absorb the fruits in the abstract meaning, this release is another convincing set of fugitive moments that fits their creative line of work. Tracks are tighten into increasingly effective imrpov mode with lo-fi effects reminiscent to Raymond Scott early pioneer works. Groupshow have an endearingly lo-fi but highly skilled sound that's quaintly enchanting. ................................. XXXV :: LABEL of the moment (15 06 2009): WARP: The pioneering IDM/not-IDM label Warp Records would celebrate its 20th anniversary this year with a box set and parties around the globe. Warp started out as the home to experimental electronic types like Aphex Twin and Autechre, and those groups' cover art used to invariably depict crazy futuristic-looking space polygons. The rest is history. Engage! ................................. XXXV :: ARTIST of the moment (15 06 2009): KEVIN BLECHDOM: She invites all to take a clear and fresh look at the emotional and intimate contents of live. She wastes no time getting to the point of her music and she knows what that is. Her sweet songs do not delay their development into rich hyper-emotional climaxes. Together with Mocky her last album displays matured qualities. (visit LPR 2009) ................................. XXXV :: CONCERT of the moment (01 07 2009): YEAH YEAH YEAHS @ Roxy, Prague, CZ .................................................................................................................... XXXIV :: ALBUM of the moment (01 05 2009): GRIZZLY BEAR - Veckatimest (Warp): is set on grand scale, using dramatically articulated shifts in the arrangements with spontaneous psych mode and unique sensibility as regular tools to influence in wide range. They've just had to re improve how cute they are in the sound image, so the mild horizon will last longer... (visit LPR 2009) ................................. XXXIV :: LABEL of the moment (02 05 2009): RASTER NOTON: confronts the digital processing in a deep philosophical proportion, facing blank spaces with the possibility to develop music through geometrical progression as logical guideline. Not only visually. Have you ever wonder how squares, circles and lines might sound? From minimal to much denser contents. It is the most repetitious noisy glitch-scaped label, fatal for those who voluntary faint in a digitalia panoramic sound. ................................. XXXIV :: ARTIST of the moment (03 05 2009): OREN AMBARCHI: Extremes in music are limits that can always be re-defined. Fully aware of this, Sydney resident Oren Ambarchi is totally dedicated to his unique sonic possibilities. His alchemy can be considered in many ways along with drone or microtonal sonorities. As a specialty, try to sink in his low frequencies and gain some of the uncorrupted experience he offers. He releases for Touch, Southern Lord, Room40 and Staubgold. ................................. XXXIV :: CONCERT of the moment (11 05 2009): JIMI TENOR feat. Kabu Kabu @ Lucerna Music Bar, Prague CZ .................................................................................................................... XXXIII :: ALBUM of the moment (01 04 2009): ATOM TM - Liedgut (Raster Noton): Essentially an uninterrupted album. Evocative in great extend to some pioneer electronic gestures of Raymond Scott - getting the naivety in the creation, or totally dedicated to the familiar domestic mechanical interpretation - pointing out some scattered Kraftwerkish melodies he involves in the overall glitchy concept. As it belongs to the Raster Noton catalog, the minimal outfit is more than expected, but most advanced and extremely lavish in the contents. Digital shapes for forever green ears! (visit LPR 2009) ................................. XXXIII :: LABEL of the moment (02 04 2009): BASKARU, FRA: wants to publish only a few carefully selected releases each year. It emits artists (Francisco Lopez, Lawrence English, Ethan Rose, Yoshido Machida, Symbiosis Orchestra..) with broad schemes in their mind to enhance the range of sounds with whimsy dynamics, to reestablish the ambient context or just to confirm there are many parallel worlds we live today. (visit LPR 2009) ................................. XXXIII :: ARTIST of the moment (03 04 2009): ANIMAL COLLECTIVE: have curiously explored the indie enthusiasm to its very meaning. Their spontaneous behavior and psychedelic manner have proved instincts posses intensive colors to be observed. It is about their continuous intuition based on vibrating process with very correct approach. AC's latest record Merriweather Post Pavilion have marked the beginning of this year. Even though it sounds more defensive or reasonably matured than before, the ability to create special sonic environments stands still, running the blood in the veins. (visit LPR 2009) ................................. XXXIII :: CONCERT of the moment (27 04 2009): JUANA MOLINA @ ICA The Mall, London, UK .................................................................................................................... ALBUM OF THE YEAR :: SATANICPORNOCULTSHOP - Takusan No Ohanasan (Vivo Records): Get well, eat well, rest up, sleep well and press play. A multiplied experience with stunning samplemania strategy packed in a gloomy image with a touch of 'ouch' to it that starts to pump the vein. The second release by the Japanese quartet for Vivo Records, following '.aiff Skull', is placing the break-samplemania course to evident social comfort. Besides the brave manipulation and lucid production, storing tracks with rapid-fire drum'n'bass, there are pop stops in the album with sentimental encounters along with opposite illustrious jittery mish-mash of various music cultures. This sort ought to have legible meaning with o guidance and no option but to run through the possibilities. Most lavish subculture release. High five! :: LABEL OF THE YEAR :: ROOM 40, Australia: Isolation, quietness, texture, urban ambient, granular, subtle, ghostly feeling, field recordings, fragile aesthetics, tonal weirdness, jazz mood... All of these associations well determined into Room 40's state of being: Sebastien Roux, Tim Hecker, Taylor Deupree, Ueno (Tenniscoats), Tomasz Bednarczyk, Chris Abrahams / Mike Cooper, Leighton Craig... Label's style uses both electronic and acoustic sources and blurs the line between the two. Furthermore, ROOM 40 has a sister label SOMEONE GOOD releasing avant-pop music: Lullatone (ALBUM of the moment - 01 04 2008), The Rational Academy... (visit LPR 2008) :: ARTIST OF THE YEAR :: BRADFORD COX is the guilty man for releasing two great albums this year for his two bands Deerhunter and Atlas Sound (both ALBUMs of the moment in 2008). "As his theatrical vocalist is known for making dramatic punk statements in Deerhunter - donning ill-fitting dresses, for instance, or fake-fellating band members on stage. For all that confrontational bluster, the self-proclaimed 'true queer art punk' is entering a new, calmer phase in his career." :: CONCERT OF THE YEAR :: ANIMAL COLLECTIVE, Alog @ Archa Theatre, Prague CZ 14 10 2008 The power to be attracted, standing in front of an important collective of today's music, comes when most of the tunes rearranged its image in a more obscure nature which prolonged the time to catch the familiar notes. Instead, the trio overwhelmed the crowd with a mood and a reconsideration which was rebuild with their new approval. AC's sonic free form is capable to capture amazing consistency and freaky tendencies. What was defined as an alluring concert all the way long, had developed in a tempting conflict with the time sequence. As much the concert looked at the end line, there was no sense to get to it, as the stimulated excitement had progressed rapidly. Great achievement! .................................................................................................................... .____. Otsechka is in the middle of making its second The Compilation Of The Moment for 2008 with the most peculiar tracks which are still spinning the head. Thanks for the patience and the choice to free download other releases in dOSSIER/tRACKS section where the net label Otsechka stands still. XXXII :: ALBUM of the moment (01 12 2008): KOUSHIK - Out My Window (Stones Throw): After outnumbered listenings to this most inviting album, one simple confirmation must be done. Bringing ahead the smoky sound from the 60ies, Koushik Ghosh creates more than a shiny hippy tripy celebration of the next mornings. Realising a perfect multilayer melange of subtly funky psych-pop, downbeat hip hop.. he settles already familiar moods in a new heights. 'All warped and wrapped into one dusty package, the end result is a digital form of sunshine, the music radiating a joy and sentiment of a child-like innocence.' The final stage might brings you on the half way between Caribou and Boards of Canada. Try it. (visit LPR 2008) XXXII :: LABEL of the moment (02 12 2008): VIVO Records, Poland: Their musical description goes under experimental label. Behind this supersaturated genre full of intricate sound conventions and radical ideas, there is a line of concrete names and musical duration. Satanicpornocultshop, Merzbow, Acid Mothers Temple, Zdzislaw Piernik, Piotr Zabrodzki, KK Hull... All of them fit the picture into the frame of various contemporary designs. XXXII :: ARTIST of the moment (03 12 2008): SQUAREPUSHER : His 'go for it' attitude makes him very reliable person for fulfillment. Whether they question him with 'you can't do much with your bass' or 'jazz is not so appicalbe musical form', Tom Jenkinson would easely reply 'you are wrong'. Sure, he'll make both things working in a good shape. An uncomromising hero of our time. XXXII :: CONCERT of the moment (11 12 2008): BEACH HOUSE + JANA HUNTER @ CARGO, London, Uk .................................................................................................................... XXXI :: ALBUM of the moment (01 11 2008): DEERHUNTER - Microcastle (4AD): Besides the totally diferent punk-ish approach they've used since they first came upon with Cryptograms and Fluorescent Grey, it seems Bradford Cox's flexible but brisk music sense enters deeply in more eligible, not so extreme territories which could easely doubt some determinations. There is nothing more appropriate to embrace both directions since there is strong conections between! However, Microcastle drives on Atlas Sound's vibes, which is more daytriping and smoothier then the before mentioned Deerhunter's rumbling penetration. Their widespread expression is clear and acurate, balancing noisy, experimentation with the infectious repetitions of unabashed pop music. Fiesta for ears! (visit LPR 2008) XXXI :: LABEL of the moment (02 11 2008): SONIG: with their last VARIOUS / SONIG - Noise Room output which documents the NOISE ROOM an autonomous surround sound space built for pre-recorded musical works and sonic experiments (The NOISE ROOM was initiated and designed by Jan St. Werner, former artistic director of STEIM and member of Mouse on Mars), the german futuristic label for the Noise, the ZOO element, the drama in the electronic world over the years, is getting the values from the history for the history. XXXI :: ARTIST of the moment (03 11 2008): DEERHOOF : is truely fine art exemplare of free attitude in the rock milleu. Sort of a neo art rock band that knows how to calculate their tricky instrumental possibilities. Combining various aesthetics in a breath of a song, Deerhoof is like floating mine you wish you have a chance to step on during some live performance. There is respective guitar knowledge, building up often an expressive sheet of sounds with no intention to overload the final result, allowing in the same time, frequent genltle parts to impose the overwelming female vocal of Satomi Matsuzaki in the hands of a gracefull synth-pop style. In a field of multi mannerism, Deerhoof penetrates in different moods with different shifts before you blink twice with your eyes. Don't wait! XXXI :: CONCERT of the moment (11 11 2008): PEOPLE LIKE Us & ERGO PHIZMIZ, Kings Place, London, UK .................................................................................................................... XXX :: ALBUM of the moment (14 09 2008): VOLCANO! - Paperwork (Leaf Label): Aaron With's vocal takes Chicago based adventurous band to the paramount of the rock artism. Ferociously innovative, free driving, often exclaimed with cabaret shots; volcano!'s lyrics make sustainable confusion, constantly imbue their music with an unparalleled sense of drama. Paperwork builds up their achievement upon Beautiful Seizure in the twist of rickety moods, stumbling upon unexpected delights whilst always moving forward with a pioneering sense of purpose. Most inviting! (visit LPR 2008) XXX :: LABEL of the moment (15 09 2008): RUNE GRAMOFON, Nor: A meeting point of artists devoted to the intensity of the style. Creative reactions, basicly inspired by the glacial silence coming from their native scandinavian open air surroundings (Jazzkammer, Deathprod..), fueled with a certain point of neo folk input (Maja Ratkje, In The Country, Susanna & The Magical Orchestra), and ofcourse, realizing the edgy aspect of some free style revelations of Supersilent, MoHa!, Scorch Trio, Elephant9.. doing their best efforts to build up tough and pierceful sound as possible. XXX :: ARTIST of the moment (16 09 2008): FUJIYA & MIYAGI : From duo to quartet, from Transparent Things to Lightbulbs, things have iluminated brighter and even cooler simultenously. With the music-nerd navel-gazing of LCD Soundsystem, but also the sonic aesthetic of the driving krautrock, it can be enjoyed regardless of whether you want to get geeky with its metronome rhythms and cerebral melodies. Bottom line: pure fun! XXXI :: CONCERT of the moment (14 10 2008: ANIMAL COLLECTIVE,Prague .................................................................................................................... XXIX :: ALBUM of the moment (01 07 2008): THE KILLS - Midnight Boom (Domino): Not too late to wake up your neighbors with one of the soft killers of The Kills's second release. Despite The White Stripes, The Fiery Furnaces... The Kills are another important THE band at the top of the game managing duo (boy/girl) mobility, most effectively realizing Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince's untypical ideas. Pure satisfaction and an avant rock message for the wide masses. The production is sharp and decisive as a simple carrier of mutant bluesy guitar riffs, rhythm machine and convincing vocals. The results are shown in many of the penetrable tracks in the album, like 'Cheap And Cheerful' or opening 'U.R.A. Fever' as bass-heavy piece of slinky garage rock, or The Breeders minded 'Tape Song', the clash trash drama attack of 'What New York Used To Be'... decorating the finale of the album with 'Goodnight Bad Morning' as a blossom flower taken from Velvet Underground's garden. Ace! (visit LPR 2008) XXIX :: LABEL of the moment (02 07 2008): KNING DISK, Swe: With extremely reach indie contents and broad melancholic delight, this Swedish imprint allows Americana to be mixed with Scandinavian blood making proactive metamorphosis. Although generalized to get in the realms of David Pajo, Binnie Prince Billy.. department, artists such as Peter Broderick, Dwayne Sodahbrk, Library Tapes, Erik Enocksson, Voice Of The Seven Woods... move far beyond the familiar odds and accent the individual component in Kning's roster. Try them at: http://www.kningdisk.com/jukebox XXIX :: ARTIST of the moment (03 07 2008): DWAYNE SODAHBERK: is a clear-cut artist delighted in the gems of technology and diversity of styles, engaging sonically high values especially noted in his latest 2 records. After his pounding 'tronica days in Kid 606's Tigerbeat 6, Dwayne has made an essential creatuve turn in 2006 with 'Cut Open' following this year's 'Fjarilsfalu' confirming his crucial avant-indie ideas he has. Sensual dream-pop longitudes calling upon '60s-flavored acoustic melodies, quiet electronic kraut-rock, dark haunted folk tunes, and subtly lurking noise with introverted shy vocals scattered all over the sentimental avant-pop structures. XXIX :: CONCERT of the moment (05 07 2008): A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS @ Barfly, London, UK .................................................................................................................... XVIII :: ALBUM of the moment (15 06 2008): VARIOUS ARTISTS - GHOSTLY SWIM (Ghostly International): Get the latest breakthrough compilation from one of the most exciting avant-pop labels nowadays GHOSTLY International. It features artists like Matthew Dear, Dabrye, Osborne, Tycho, Detroit’s Deastro, Milosh from Plug Research, Flying Lotus and SAMIYAM teaming up as FLYamSAM and Aeroc and new signings like UK cult band The Chap, NYC producer Michna, School Of Seven Bells. You can get the compilation for FREE here: http://ghostly.com/releases/ghostly-swim . Another Ghostly's Various speciality named as DISCO NOUVEAU finds its way as a smashing dancefloor record soon. XXVIII :: LABEL of the moment (16 06 2008): TOUCH, UK: began in the early '80s. It conceived of itself as an 'audio-visual' label, shaped in part by the photography of Jon Wozencroft (who co-runs the label), meant that it was never going to yield to the digital tendency towards decoupling sound from images. A seductive, beautiful suite of records which melds various ambient atmospheres, all inspired by artist's tempting imagination. (visit LPR 2008) XXVIII :: ARTIST of the moment (17 06 2008): JAN ST. WERNER: is Lithops and the one half of the mighty duo Mouse On Mars (despite the groovy and energetic side described in the name of Andy Toma), 1/3 of last year's surprise collaboration 'Von Sudenfed' and 1/2 of the dsp group Microstoria. Jan is restlessly eager to find as more map guides as possible in the textures he emlpoys. Epic audio explorations in the digital era we live today. Desperately attractive in every step he makes, his relentless fishnet flock holds strange and most bizzare creatures from the deepest ocean of sounds where the pressure is high. It scares the fact what lives/sounds beyond your final imagination and what kind of velocity it can take. It delights the moment when you figure: 'It's real'! Irresistible digital Jan St. Werner's fiction still reign supreme. Welcome his new edition: Mound Magnet Pt. 2: Elevations Above Sea Level. XXVIII :: CONCERT of the moment (18 06 2008): BONNY Prince BILLY @ Frosina Cinema, Skopje, Macedonia .................................................................................................................... XXVII :: ALBUM of the moment (01 06 2008): CLOUDLAND CANYON - Lie In Light (Kranky): Drone and kraut rock mixture raised within Kranky's solar system. Music full of esoteric allusions. Despite long distance signals emerging out of droned spheres, refreshing psyched synth textures arise in 'Heme' with a frequency close to Boards Of Canada affinities. If the opener 'Krautwerk' nails the krautrock sound with an uncanny authenticity, the whole second full-length album from Kip Uhlhorn and Simon Wojan is as accomplished as it is restlessly diverse with precise melody component, vicious noise oscillations and mystery guidance. Confidential remark! XXVII :: LABEL of the moment (02 06 2008): DC Recordings, UK: "Squirrels, robots, subversions, perversions & badgers; just some of themes associated with DC Recordings. It's been like this for over ten years and it ain't gonna change. It's our own fault (we've encouraged it), and with J Saul Kane steering the ship, it was perhaps inevitable that this would be the case. Rising from the ashes of Vinyl Solution in 1995, the plucked phoenix that is DC Recordings was originally formed as an outlet for Kane's wayward audio adventures. Almost immediately, like-minded artists began to gravitate towards his obviously creaky ship and, over sixty releases later, the ship is (somewhat remarkably) still afloat." Padded Cell, The Emperor Machine, Kelpe... (visit LPR 2008) XXVII :: ARTIST of the moment (03 06 2008): DAEDELUS: A distinguished name in the West Coast's hotbed of sounds and extravagance, Daedelus has lived through IDM fever and broken beats and given birth to his own inimitable style, in which vulgar pop culture and the most erudite sounds come together to build truly great songs. A symphony of eccentricities, avant-pop, psychodelia, tropicalia and electronic surrealism that has captivated heavyweight labels like Mush, Plug Research, Hefty, Tigerbeat6, Eastern Developments and Ninja Tune. (Sonar.es) XXVII :: CONCERT of the moment (18 06 2008): MATMOS, ZAVOLOKA @ Archa Theatre, Prague, CZ .................................................................................................................... XXVI :: ALBUM of the moment (15 05 2008): SATANICPORNOCULTSHOP - Takusan No Ohanasan (Vivo Records): Get well, rest up, eat well, sleep well and press play. Then, a multiplied experience with stunning samplemania strategy packed in beautiful image with a touch of 'ouch' to it, will start to pump the vein. The second release by Japan based quartet for Polish label Vivo Records, following '.aiff Skull', is placing the break-samplemania course to evident social comfort. Besides the brave manipulation and lucid production, storing tracks with rapid-fire drum'n'bass, there are pop stops in the album sounding innocent along with their illustrious jittery mish-mash of various music cultures. Satanicpornocultshop is LCD Soundsystem in the field of so called "moody experimental" music. High five! XXVI :: LABEL of the moment (16 05 2008): ROOM 40, Australia: Isolation, quietness, texture, urban ambient, granular, subtle, ghostly feeling, field recordings, fragile aesthetics, tonal weirdness, jazz mood... (visit LPR 2008) XXVI :: ARTIST of the moment (17 05 2008): TAPE: Dreamscape specialists. Abstract soldiers of fortune. The brothers Andreas and Johan Berthling (and Hapna curators) together with their friend Tomas Hallonsten employ the most inviting Swedish 'post-folk' group. Tape produce a sound punctuated by pure, untapped beauty. In Luminarium, they overwhelm again the senses with sharp flavors of spontaneous sonics, coming out of warm electronics, field recordings and many versatile instruments, possessing an efficient linear unity and more melodic approach. With two more (re)releases this year - Opera Plus and Milieu Plus, they've put themselves on a line with other great sound adventurers. XXVI :: CONCERT of the moment (24 05 2008): GANG OF FOUR @ OFF FEST, Hard Rock, Skopje, Macedonia .................................................................................................................... XXV :: ALBUM of the moment (01 05 2008): PORTISHEAD 'Third' (Island): Things are not they use to be. Portishead has grabbed their chance to redefine its timeless values instead of trying to enjoy the credits in the shadow of the old glory. Everybody's trip-hop from the second 1/2 of the last century, enhanced the private mood upon deep groove therapy most universally imposed by this band coming from Bristol. In THIRD, they represent new line of devastating beauties, showing an array of progressive instrumental compositions (the role of Beth Gibbons's visceral vocal finds perfect niche in its, too) along with trembling psych-ey aesthetics and hypnotic measurements, not comfortable for afternoon enjoyment. The dark side of the music is shining again. XXV :: LABEL of the moment (02 05 2008): FAT CAT, UK: Always around accompanying the attention of the global music. Always available to make a room for new hot shots of Americana, folk and indie-rock delights with capacity no one else posses. It is a safe ground for wonderers and seekers, a home for distinctive names as Animal Collective, Aoki Takamasa & Tujiko Noriko, Blood On The Wall, Crescent, David Grubbs, Max Richter, Mice Parade, Mum, Vashti Bunyan, Vetiver... Since the very beginning, Otsechka has the privilege to borrow two tracks from two super artists (Hauschka and Silje Nes) for the purpose of its 2 net compilations '5, 4, 3, 2, 1' and 'All Springs' (visit dOSSIER/tracks). Therefore, for sweet "myaau" Fat Cat. XXV :: ARTIST of the moment (03 05 2008): JAMIE LIDELL: "For me making a pop album is experimental." Such a revelation. A person with multitalented prospect and one supreme voice, ready to knock out great vocal attributes, especially concerned with soul, r&b amusements. The Warp's golden chicken has step up on the mainstream stage with his both legs and shows interest to utilize 'Jamaraquai concept" ("There is no business as show business"). Nothing is wrong here if 'having a good time' is having a good wind in the back. Jim has it. However, the "non-experimental" Lidell is having a long break. Now, even Multiply stands as an alternative album comparing to Jim. Until the predictable Lidell wake up again, have another round of easy swallow chords! Jim is paying. XXV :: CONCERT of the moment (13 05 2008): Shellac @ Castro, Skopje, Macedonia .................................................................................................................... XXIV :: ALBUM of the moment (15 04 2008): MATMOS - Supreme Balloon (Matador): Whatever direction Matmos choose to take, is immediately audible! In SUPREME BALLON the duo changes the skin but not the soul. Their continuing conceptual enthusiasm results in a shape of a synthesizer revelation. Matmos continues to project their sacred vision to unite the rephlex and the logics in one dimension. The two of them connect the mind (where they turn around the variations of Rubik cube of avant music) and the body (the pure amusement) into one mechanism. They posses a gift to surprise and bewitch... Success! (visit LPR 2008) XXIV :: LABEL of the moment (18 04 2008): FLAU, Japan: Sometimes, a V.A. release could be a good recommendation to recognize true label's profile with representative tracks made by its domestic artists and worldwide contributors. "Little Things" is the main motivator to look behind and seek some other warm and exceptional works brought from this far east factory of sweet things. Part Timer, Cokiyu, Jasper Layland, Hood, Dale Berning, Geskia... (read the LPR) XXIV :: ARTIST of the moment (17 04 2008): RAYMOND SCOTT: For the first time, Otsechka activates its time machine with purpose to increase the timeless values incorporating not living artists. There is a reason! Born in 1908 he will always be remembered as the mad professor of famous "cartoon music", jazz lover and as an early pioneer, an open minded source and inventor of electronic instruments full of futureness. His "Manhattan Research Inc." is still challenging today's modern music. XXIV :: CONCERT of the moment (22 04 2008): BORIS + GROWING Transitional @ The Factory Club, Birmingham, UK .................................................................................................................... XXIII :: ALBUM of the moment (01 04 2008): LULLATONE - Presents The Bedtime Beat (Someone Good): ... In favor of a specific human state, Lullatone has specialized its music to project the most desirable - sleepy time. Shshh... If spoken, all these words have to be whispered. Do have in mind acoustics (Japanese lo-fi aesthetics) with childish gravitation and toy melodies; fragile in the core, capable to replace a content of fairy books along with evocative little symphonies that lead to sweet dreams. Good is not enough. (visit LPR 2008) XXIII :: LABEL of the moment (02 04 2008): ZYMOGEN, Italy: Since 2005, the Italian net supplier zymogen.net creates a net of distinctive releases and decodes the mystical meaning of the alternative music. "It is a product of refined consideration for experimental expression and aesthetics." The recent release Various "Symbiosis" (find 2 new releases in LPR) fully represents their significance bringing together all possible sharp flavors what'd placed this net-label as a virtual sanctuary of our digital time. XXIII :: ARTIST of the moment (03 04 2008): AGF / ANTYE GREIE: calls herself e-poetess or powerful poemproducer in lack of a better description. One of the most active figures in Berlin, last year embodied the German language in the blues interpreted Laub's 'Deinetwegen'. This year, 'The Word Are Missing' shows her totally ambitious work to date, exploring speech and spoken word into electronic music, sound installations, pop songs, calligraphy and in the world wide web. She runs her own AGF Producktion. XXIII :: CONCERT of the moment (05 04 2008): STAUBGOLD Night: Rafael Toral, Mapstation, Klangwart, Reuber @ Bellevilloise - Qwartz Forum, Paris, FRA :: Check out the NEWS part - just keep on down the board .................................................................................................................... XXII :: ALBUM of the moment (14 03 2008): ERIK LEVANDER - Kondens (Rumraket): ...A free-ambient upgrader that reshapes the 'middle of nowhere' situation in a way 'Kondens' approves recovering treatment.... Many good names have been given to this music, such as 'melodic glitch' and 'screengazer'. Erik's has its own humble suggestion: 'careful maximalism'... (visit LPR 2008) XXII :: LABEL of the moment (15 03 2008): MATADOR, USA: A lot more to offer than a predictable rock attitude following the formalities. Wild at heart, rational in the mind, they've marked the area where many listeners are willing to lay their souls due to some unique acts. Matador has helped artists such as Yo La Tengo, Cat Power, Cornelius, Solex, Pizzicato Five... reach audiences worldwide. Matador has also served as the North American licensee for a number of exceptional international acts, including Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, Boards of Canada, Red Snapper, Arab Strap and others. Matador is always steady ready to continue the indie-rock dream come true no matter how cheap it sounds. The beginning of this year they've increased the dosage with descent works of Stefen Malkmus and The Jicks, Cat Power, Dead Meadow, Times New Viking and they still keep the temperature high for the very expecting release of the most blessed weirdos - Matmos. (visit LPR 2008) XXII :: ARTIST of the moment (16 03 2008): SYLVAIN CHAUVEAU: Despite he's a guitar player, Sylvain has a perfect instinct to incorporate the silence in a piano based minimal aesthetics that comply to highest acoustic delights. Two last year's albums 'S' and 'Nuage' are still shining in the vast constellation of minimal releases bringing Satie's sentiment at front. His most newest involvement includes - Felicia Atkinson & Sylvain Chauveau 'Roman Anglais' for O Rosa. XXII :: CONCERT of the moment (17 03 2008): MIASMAH evening: RAFAEL ANTON IRISARRI + GREG HAINES @ Les Instants Chavire, Montreuil (Paris), Ile-de-France, FRA .................................................................................................................... XXI :: ALBUM of the moment (01 03 2008): CLARK - Turning Dragon (Warp): Loud, fast and dirty. The three quickest words describing Clark's latest reincarnation. A bit scary, but pretty somehow. That's how it feels when you join the album running in the fifth gear all the way. Clark shares simultaneous brainiac moments of breakcore, rave, techno-ish idm... His production acts thoroughly creative rather than claiming for devastating nature. A 'hi-fidelity wonderland of distortion' album for admirers of... (visit LPR 2008) XXI :: LABEL of the moment (02 03 2008): RUMP Recordings, Denmark: ... is mad about breakbeat mentalism accessible in first sight with ambition to 'post' the styles additionally. Furthermore, nice knit of different output seems to leave the artists open to various quirky ideas, apparently all friendly positioned and disciplined in its parameters... No doubt Rump is capable to expand its positivist vision of incredible variety of styles and btw, knows how to pay the bills exploring its own eclectic optimism. (visit LPR 2008) XXI :: ARTIST of the moment (04 03 2008): BILL DIXON: 'His consistent refusal to compromise and a lengthy career in education - he taught at Bennington College from 1968-1996 - prevented the kind of widespread acclaim accorded to contemporaries and/or past collaborators like Archie Shepp, Cecil Taylor, Alan Silva, Ornette Coleman, and John Coltrane. In the early 60s he was a crucial figure on the developing free jazz, or "new thing" happening in New York, and in 1964 he organized and programmed the highly influential October Revolution in Jazz, an event that practically introduced free jazz to a broad public...' XXI :: CONCERT of the moment (03 03 2008): AUTECHRE @ The Factory Club, Birmingham, UK .................................................................................................................... XX :: ALBUM of the moment (11 02 2008): ATLAS SOUND - Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel (Kranky): "...sets 'indie' inclined puzzled drive than 'rock' positioned access. The psych mode is crystallized with accurate formula to succeed, as well as raised up in a frame that anticipates Grizzly Bear's or Animal Collective's forms with much more smoother, silkier approach, bringing at the end - the inevitable Kranky's esoteric signature as a blessed verification." (visit LPR 2008) XX :: LABEL of the moment (13 02 2008): *NOTENUF Records, USA: It was started by a group of friends in 2002. Recent artists include A Sunny Day in Glasgow, Officerfishdumplings and the Battle of Land and Sea. They brought substantial stimulance and real courage to the everyday indie existance. They avoid monotony and make ambitious moves. Hook up with them and visit LPR 2008. (*Unfortunately, the label Notenuf has vanished meanwhile. Fortunately, the two albums by A Sunny Day in Glasgow and The Battle Of Land and Sea will be available through the new label MisOjos-Discos.com) XX :: ARTIST of the moment (15 02 2008): STEPHEN MALKMUS: His new album with the Jicks 'Real Emotional Trash' on Matador hits store shelves on March 4th. Already reviewed in LPR 2008, Otsechka points out that... "he always succeds to put some red on the chicks with the chords that shifts so good in precise timing. Virtuosic and hypnotic, the instrumental side of the story is always well accented besides what he can do as a storyteller or songwriter. After all, he knows all the tricks!" XX :: CONCERT of the moment (28 02 2008): ELECTRICAT @ Traffic, Rome. Ita .................................................................................................................... XIX :: ALBUM of the moment (29 01 2008): SILJE NES - Ames Room (Fat Cat): "If the indie music has its own priority to commit exile from the ordinary busy world and create its own Neverland then Silje Nes is probably the best opportunity to realize this idea in the beginning of the new year..." (visit LPR 2007) XIX :: LABEL of the moment (30 01 2008): SCAPE, Germany: Why? First, there are three remarkable 2007's releases from Frivolous, Roam The Hello Clouds and the label's boss Pole that should have pointed the label in this category during last year. With Jan Jelinek's newest remixed album this is good chance to welcome them in this section. Second, we live in enormous everyday dubstep craziness. Tons of questionable dub tones are passing to deceive the ears. Scape has been the cultivating engine of the genre from the beginning of the century. Many V.A. produced in the Scape's kitchen were inspirational basis to revolutionize the style beyond the conventional form which led to many individual highlights. But then again... That's why. XIX :: ARTIST of the moment (31 01 2008): BRADFORD COX (Deerhunter, Atlas Sound): "As the theatrical vocalist of Deerhunter, Bradford Cox is known for making dramatic punk statements - donning ill-fitting dresses, for instance, or fake-fellating band members on stage. For all that confrontational bluster, the self-proclaimed “true queer art punk” is entering a new, calmer phase in his career." More here: http://blog.rhapsody.com/2007/12/10-minutes-with.html XIX :: CONCERT of the moment (01 02 2008): ALVA NOTO "Xerrox" & Keiichiro Shibuya a.o. @ Ballhaus Naunynstra?e, Berlin, Club Transmediale, Ger ....................................................................................................................

About me:
plain layout powered by HOTFreeLayouts.com / MyHotComments OTSECHKA exists as a music.zine and a net.label simultaneously supporting diverse releases of current modern music. Visit otsechka.com then dOSSIER/tracks and download all Otsechka's releases. More to come soon! | | | | | | | | Late 2006, OTSECHKA begun to write notes about the modern music situated between two opposite sides. One that would determine insecure notes causing unpredictable moods or risks and the other regarded with favor, approval, or affection by people in general. On one hand, supporting anonymous artists ready to concur the music taste and, on the other, those who are famous, ceaselessly in motion to behold what they've already been achieved. Curious to capture signals that occur, as more as possible, in the interaction between these two separate points, OTSECHKA decided to build a bridge showing the shortest path between them. The use of internet space became reality early months in 2007 when many things in the scheme formed its shape, including categories such as Album, Label, Artist and Concert Of The Moment, proclaiming good NEWS for the modern music. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | SUPPORT OTSECHKA! Even you can get the special ANNUAL OTSECHKA 2007 edition for FREE, you can still ADD 5 Euros to enable the future maintenance of OTSECHKA dot com. Many thanks!
