At the next SLUM, we are pleased to announce that we will be screening rare early films of Christophe Chemin. This is meant to coincide with the current exhibition of Christophe, "Rats & Children," at the RISE Gallery here in Berlin -- if you haven't been yet, we strongly recommend checking this show out.
Christophe Chemin is also known as the co-star of Bruce Labruce's "Otto; or, Up With Dead People!" He designed the sets and costumes for the play "Daddy" by Travis Jeppesen, which premiered at the HAU Theater in June under the direction of Ron Athey. Chemin is currently in post-production for a feature film he directed that will be premiered later this month at the Jack Smith Festival.

242 MovieTv promuove il cinema indipendente italiano
242 MovieTv è il portale internet dedicato al cinema e alla televisione indipendenti, finalizzato alla loro promozione e distribuzione attraverso un canale completamente autonomo in grado di fare da ponte con le major cinematografiche e televisive. Un portale internet che è anche web-tv, nata dall’esigenza di creare una reale alternativa ai canali tradizionali di produzione e distribuzione di format televisivi e produzioni per il cinema, solitamente poco propensi a finanziare e sviluppare lavori innovativi, sperimentando nuove tecniche narrative. Il progetto di questa webTv – fondata nel 2007 - si propone di convogliare le forze di autori, registi, produttori, tecnici e associazioni culturali indipendenti verso la costituzione di una "massa critica" in grado di catturare l’attenzione dei media, del pubblico e degli addetti ai lavori. Per questo ICS Company, proprietaria di 242 MovieTv porta avanti da anni il progetto SOS Filmaker (il primo socialnetwork italiano dedicato a chi lavora nel cinema e nella televisione).
242 MovieTv è partner di importanti Festival di Cinema tra i quali Maremetraggio, La 25a Ora, Visioni Fuori Raccordo e il PIFF – Piglio Independent Film Festival giunto alla sua 2a edizione che avrà luogo dal 28 al 30 agosto2009 nel Comune di Piglio in Provincia di Frosinone, organizzato dalla stessa ICS Company, che vedrà in concorso i seguenti cortometraggi di registi italiani:
La Presidenza della Giuria di qualità è stata affidata al regista Paolo Bianchini (La Grande Quercia, uno dei film italiani piu' premiati di sempre). Al fianco di Bianchini lavoreranno in Giuria anche l'attrice Tiziana Foschi (La Premiata Ditta), il regista Mauro Conciatori (La Citta' Garbata), Fabrizio Accatino (giornalista e autore di "25a Ora - il cinema espanso") e l'attore Alessandro Prete (Romanzo Criminale - La Serie).
Come consuetudine (il Presidente di Giuria della passata edizione è stato Enzo G. Castellari) la Presidenza della Giuria del PIFF e' stata affidata da Marcello Conte (direttore artistico di ICS Company) ad un regista “storico” del nostro Cinema per evidenziare la necessità di un passaggio di "testimone" tra la vecchia e la nuova generazione di registi italiani.
Please join us on Wednesday (10 June) for the opening of »Black Box«, a room-filling installation containing works by Benjamin Laurent Aman (FR), Sébastien Maloberti (FR) and Marcel Türkowsky (GER).
Benjamin Laurent Aman invited the two other artists to help him actualize the as-of-yet theoretical conception of the »Black Box«.
The three artists approach the multi-layered subject »Black Box« as experimenters, thereby creating a system of tests in which events can be followed, but which also lends itself to substantiating different modus operandi. Oscillating between possible and impossible implementations, they transform notions of reality and illusion into a dimension of functional describability, while revealing the character of the exhibition space as an in-between place.
The artistic media used in this range from photographs and drawings to installation and sound. Not least of all, the exhibition is marked by a moment of ignorance, in which none of the artists are aware of each other’s intentions and strategies.

In her drawings, installations, videos, and sculptures, Brown turns an inquisitive eye on nature and its strange formations. Rather than relying on the clichés of German or English Romanticism in grasping for some lofty implications of truth within the sublime, Brown largely focuses her concerns on the manipulation of natural phenomena by humans for normative purposes that often seem comical or simply bizarre upon closer inspection.
