Ouranos Quartet : Dimitri Dourantonis (guitare), Baptiste Herbin (saxohpone alto), Martin Guimbellot (contrebasse), Rémy Voide (batterie)




Before going ahead with this brand new band, I would like to remember the musicians who played my music for more than 30 years and tell them how grateful I am.

All my thanks and congratulations to:

My brother Pana, Jean-Pierre Dauger, Vincente Espi, Arnaud Jarlan, Philippe Gobinet, Bruce Grant, Serge Marne, Hélène, Anne-Marie, Alain Mourey, Pascal Bivalski, Toty, Riri, Eddy rabeson, Alain Rabeson , Peter Rabeson, Datita Rabeson and my friend Tony Rabeson who came with a lot of pretty good musicians such as Zool Fleischer, Vincent Mascart, Marc Buronfosse, Boyan Zulfikarpasik and even his father Jeanot Rabeson. Lately Bertrand Billon and Sarah Morrow, and all the others.

And now, welcome to the Ouranos Quartet.

Baptiste Herbin (alto sax), Martin Guimbellot (basse), Rémy Voide (drums) and me (guitar, vocal).

Now, how to stay young? By playing wih…young musicians. Those I am talking about are so young that the oldest could have been my son and the youngest is a teenager (not yet 19 years old).

What can I say about them?

Rémy played with Wise, world tour and so on, Martin does a lot of things as he is a multi instrumentist player, Baptiste has a fan club, a producer and sponsors. His sponsors are thinking about introducing him to Wynton Marsalis this summer at the Marciac Jazz Festival. Nice idea. I hope they make it.

What else? They are in the mood of this modern world and tightly respectful to the jazz tradition. You can hear them jamming in Paris every week and give serious headache to their elders.

One page is not enough to talk about them. The best I can do is to invite you to come and listen to us.

Avant de parler de ce groupe, il me semble de bon ton de rendre hommage aux musiciens qui m’ont fait l’honneur de jouer mes compositions et qui au fil du temps ont contribué à légitimer cette musique, à la faire évoluer et certainement à la faire vivre.

Composition et partage, une chronologie qui s’étale sur une bonne trentaine d’années :

Mon frère Pana, Jean-Pierre Dauger, Vincente Espi, Philippe Gobinet, Arnaud Jarlan, Pat Jouannic, Philippe Dardelle, Owona Benson, Alain Rabeson, Eddy Rabeson, Peter Rabeson, Bruce Grant, Serge Marne, Dera Mahay, Pascal Bivalski, Eric Montigny, Marco Tiembi, Alain Mourey, Hélène, Anne- Marie, Toty, Riri, Nicolas Rakotovao, Tony Rabeson qui n’est pas venu les mains vides mais avec un cortège d’excellents musiciens tels Eric Lelann, Zool Fleischer, Vincent Mascart, Marc Buronfosse, Bojan Zulfikarpasic, Joël Sicard, Jeanot Rabeson, Marc Bertaux, Olivier Bogé, Mathias Allamane, Hery Chauvin…Bertrand Billon, Philippe Monange, Sarah Morrow…(cette liste n’est pas exhaustive).

Mesdames, mesdemoiselles et messieurs les artistes je vous aime. Merci et Bravo.

Maintenant et selon la formule consacrée : « J’ai le plaisir de vous présenter Baptiste Herbin (alto sax), Martin Guimbellot (cb), Rémy Voide (dr) ».

Et voilà l’Ouranos Quartet. Jeunesse et insolence. Le plus jeune a 19 ans, le plus vieux pourrait être mon fils. Etonnant, n’est-il pas ?

Ouranos symbolisant le ciel leur sied à merveille, car pour eux la musique n’a aucune frontière. Ils sont la modernité dans le respect de la tradition.

Pour la petite histoire le jeune Baptiste Herbin a déjà producteur, sponsors et fan club. Ses sponsors envisagent de le présenter à Wynton Marsalis, cet été à Marciac. Quant à Rémy et Martin, ils ne sont pas en reste. Vous comprendrez aisément qu’il ne me revient pas de conter ici leur histoire, elle ne fait que commencer. Ils l’écriront en lettres de succès, d’applaudissements, de joies, d’émotions, de rencontres, de larmes et de labeur. En somme une vie normale pour un musicien.

En humble serviteur d’une noble cause, mon rôle se limite à vous inviter à venir nous écouter.
