The first CD of OUR LATIN GROOVE “Bringin’ it all on back” is full of surprises. The really tight Latin rhythms are the basis of this album. Salsa dura, mozambique, boogaloo, Latin soul, cha cha cha, guaguancó, plena, comparsa and Latin jazz are some of the range of used rhythms. The band has based her style on the music that was produced by the resident Latin community in New York in the sixties and seventies.
This production realized by Gerardo Rosales contains 16 themes. The following special guests have contributed on the CD:
- “la reina” of the electric Brazil Lilian Vieira, the official voice of Zuco 103;
- Alberto Caicedo “la Voz de Colombia”;
- the legendary danser of the Paladium in New York Dr. Salsa;
- Javier Plaza “el sonero de Caracas”;
- the sensual voice of Jazz in Holland, Eline.
OUR LATIN GROOVE, integrated by Bulu Viloria,Leslie López, Marc Bischoff, Michael Simon, Nicole Zabala and Gerardo Rosales, gives with this production an inspiring impulse to the lovers of good music, to the dancers and collectors.

"Latin dances have never “ been away”. The popular Cuban music has been ever so prominent beginning with the overwhelming success of “ El Manicero” on Broadway in 1932 right on through to today’s Puerto Rican and Cuban Hip Hop scene.
Caracas – Amsterdammer Gerardo Rosales, composer, percussionist and bandleader has dug deep into this music from the 50’s, 60’s and the 70’s and has come down with some real funky SALSA! Salsa, according to musicologist and percussionist Bobby Sanabria is “Cuban music with a friggin’ New York attitude”.
And besides the 70’s Salsa, he brought it all on back and gave the sixties Shingaling and Latin Boogaloo a ‘ second life’. The sounds of a unique musical era in New York City: Son Montuno with a back beat. It’s all here, inspired artists giving us dancers the rhythms we yearn for. ¡Vaya!"

The percussionist who leads the band, Gerardo Rosales, is from Venezuela and Amsterdam, and he’s put together a session that looks to New York and salsa (and boogaloo) for its inspiration — another example of how boogaloo has been percolating around the world, and showing up on a bunch of new recordings. Anyway, this is totally unpretentious dance music. Rosales is a historian, and included on the album is a tribute to Joey Pastrana, plus a rap in English about New York boogaloo and more. It has swing, and it works.
