Our Lunar Activities were formed by brothers Kevin and Charles Clark. The band released their first single “She Cried/ Diamond” on independent record label Hatch.
The single was produced by Mogwai’s Barry Burns and received critical praise and created a platform for the band to support the like of Snow Patrol, The Wedding Present and play the T-break stage at T in the park.
When a final line up was established Derek Healey (guitar) and James Reeves (bass/vocals) joined the brothers and a sound was created growing into something much more accessible.
Winter 2006 saw OLA supporting Snow Patrol again at the Gmex Arena, Manchester. It was on the back of this show OLA agreed to put an E.P out on Scottish label Neon Tetra. “It comes in waves” was released in February 2007 and again received praised reviews with journalists picking up on the bands stadium sound and anthemic choruses. A short film for this release was made by the band themselves and paid homage to their love for seventies exploitation movies. The video was made for virtually no cost and created much controversy.
2007 saw more high profile supports such as +44(formerly Blink182), The Buzzcocks, Shiny Toy Guns and a string of festivals including London Calling (Amsterdam), GoMoscow (Russia), Rockness and Belladrum(UK).
The band caught the attention of +44 frontman Mark Hoppus whilst on tour together round Europe and invited them to his studio in Los Angeles to record and produced their self titled debut album. The complete album engineered by Christopher Holmes (Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Helmet) and Produced by Mark Hoppus successfully captures the raw energy of OLA’s live performances.
2008 has seen our lunar activities play music industry showcases such as SXSW in Austin, Texas and MUSEXPO in Los Angeles.
Our Lunar Activities hail from the Isle of Lewis.
Check out OLA in the studio with Mark Hoppus and Chris Holmes making their new record in L.A.
I can think of healthier lifestyles. But currently, coming home and listening to OLA full blast, EVERY NIGHT is the norm. If only week-long holidays were longer! :-)
I'm the Owner of the Action182. com, the biggest website about Blink-182, +44 and Angels & Airwaves in South America.
We know that Mark Hoppus prodduced the Our Lunar Activies and we want make some questions to the band about the records, about Mark, and about the members/history/other.
I think that is very important to show the band in Brazil and South America.
