When Douglas K attended his first rave in the 1990's, he was introduced to what would become his ultimate passion. At the age of 17, he set his musical career in motion. Already well versed with his classical music training, he began to DJ at house parties and local radio stations. Believing strongly in his abilities, Douglas K decided to enter the Labatt Blue Dry/Sona DJ contest and made it into the top 10 out of a staggering 1,500 submissions.
He then went on to win all of the quarterfinals and the semifinals in the notorious Sona nightclub’s Main Room, which secured him the honor of playing the opening set to “Cream” - the biggest event in Montreal at the time. Cream was produced by 514 Productions, and was held at the Bell Centre – over 10,000 people attended.
Having gotten positive feedback from his music production at prestigious events like Cream and Arrival, Douglas K went back to work in the studio to perfect his production skills and has been doing so ever since. Under the musical influences of Dubfire, Steve Angello, Oliver Dahl, D Ramirez, Funkagenda, Ritchie Hawtin, Sven Vath, and more, Douglas K has been creating his own unique, funky, melodic techno sound.
