James started writing for World in Arms as a solo, studio only project back in 2005. Hitting a burst of inspiration
following the tragic passing of his grandmother, he began to write a lot of the material to reflect on how much the lessons and values she had taught
him made an impact on his life.
After about a year of writing and recording, James began to pass out the material to some friends who
said," You have to make this a real band." So James looked around for a while and met up with Pete and started a
long search to fill out the roster. About a year after that, they met up with Kyle and Mike. After a very long search for a vocalist, their pickiness paid off,
and they found Dan, giving us the first complete World In Arms.
The name World in Arms (WIA for short) comes from the belief that humanity lives f
or conflict, from something as small as two friends growing apart, to full scale warfare over any set of ideals.
"I would describe our style by saying that it is heavily influenced as sort of a throwback to late 90's early 2k metalcore.
Bands like 7angels7plagues, Misery Signals, Endthisday, Nehemiah, and Skycamefalling prove that you dont have to
follow trends to generate creative, and powerful music." says James about his writing process. "I think that those guys in those bands
generate ideas from the heart,
and not from whatever dictates a lot of the recycled sound today."
Oh, and thanks for listening.
