Out & Equal Workplace Advocates (commonly known as “Out & Equal”) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in San Francisco, California. We provide a variety of services to companies, human resource professionals, employee resource groups (ERGs) and individuals.
Out & Equal,, Workplace Advocates champions safe and equitable workplaces for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people. We advocate building and strengthening successful organizations that value all employees, customers and communities.
We sponsor the annual Out & Equal Workplace Summit for LGBT employees and human resources professionals from around the country. This event has featured such notable keynote speakers as George Takei, Yolanda King, Judy Shepard, BD Wong, Billie Jean King, Howard Dean, Patricia Ireland, Ann Richards and Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin.
The 2008 Out & Equal Workplace Summit will take place September 10-13 in Austin, TX.
In addition to the annual summit, Out & Equal offers Building Bridges Diversity Training specific to LGBT workplace issues; a growing network of regional affiliates, which now includes New York City, Dallas/Fort Worth, San Francisco Chicago, Arizona, Rocky Mountains (Denver), Washington DC, and Southern California; support to LGBT employee resource groups; a national newsletter; and individual donor and membership programs.
We have recently launched the Out & Equal Professional Network - a website inspired by social networking dedicated to discussions of workplace equality and sharing ideas about how to improve our workplaces for LGBT employees.
Out & Equal also offers support to LGBT employee resource groups (ERGs) through our ERG Registry. The Out & Equal Workplace Institute is pioneering advances in LGBT equality by combining academic research with the real-world concerns and experiences of the workplace to create best practices.

About FTM Book Vol. 1 FTM Book Vol 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life is an easy-to-understand, yet comprehensive primer on FTM issues such as:
What is an FTM? How do FTMs see themselves? Appearance Stages in Transition Surgeries Available Common Personal Histories Violence Discrimination Health Issues Counseling Relationships Common Legal Issues
We've worked hard to help create definitions that will help you talk about trans issues with others, including terms for body parts unique to the FTM and by naming the stages of transitioning. This book is great for anyone who who is having trouble understanding the lifestyle or choices of a transperson. When we first began dating, we were shocked that there was no one place that he (Aaron) could turn to show me (Crystal) "See, this explains what being an FTM means." We hope that this book will be a good start.
Best of all, when you order FTM Book Vol. 1: A Basic Introduction to Transman Life you can feel good knowing that sales of the book are being used to fund more research to help FTMs and their partners get through the challenges of their lives. This is a great book for youself and for anyone you know who could use a little more understanding. Also, you can help teach others about trans issues by donating copies to your local high schools, colleges, LGBT centers and libraries.
