I am proud to announce that I just delivered the new Shawn Barber print edition of "portait of Kat Von D" to Shawn for his one-Man-Show this Saturday May 5th at the Shooting Gallery SF http://www.shootinggallerysf.com
The prints will be signed and numbered by both the
artist and model, Kat Von D. in an edition of 100
image size 11x14" with 2 inch border. printed on
335gsm Arches watercolor paper using k3 ultrachrome
archival inks. published by Outer Edge Studio

For those of you who do not like Giclee or digital prints, below is a photo of how the painting image was captured to begin making a fine art reproduced print. This is a 4"x5" view camera. Instead of using a film back to make a film Transparency, I use a scan back, which scans directly what the lens sees. The scanner records directly into the computer. The scan takes up to 7 minutes producing a 1.6 gigabyte file. This technology has finally come up against the argument of when will digital surpass film. In this small topic of copy photography, it has arrived. The highest quality lenses are holding this new capability back.
I then color correct to match exactly to the original. After the Artist has been completely satisfied with an exact match, this monster file is sized down to the editions printable size. The image has no digital noise, no pixilation, just the best fine art reproduction possible
I only print using the finest Arches paper using the finest K3 ultrachrome inks using a professional rip that tells the print head to spray a dopplet of ink 3 times finer than any other printer on the market to day.
If you have viewed a giclee print up close and seen ANY dot matrix or dots. You have viewed a print that is not at its possible high quality and I understand why you thought it was giclee was not for you.
Some artists' work, that has many blended color brush strokes can only be reproduced in litho or giclee.
