A power affecting a person, thing, or course of events, especially one that operates without any direct or apparent effort: relaxed under the influence of the music; the influence of television on modern life.
Step right up boys and girls, its here at last!! Out Of Town is set up to bring the best unsigned acts from Manchester, around the UK, and indeed the world if any of them can afford the airfare, right into the heart of Manchester.Since moving to Manchester we've noticed a lot of the established labels/promoters like to do things their own way, and aren't really interested in out of town bands because 'they wont get enough people down'
We think this is a shameful attitude, and we here at Out Of Town have decided to take it back to the rock and roll dream, when a passion and love of live music was a good enough reason to help someone get up on stage and pick up a guitar, an accordion, a ventilhorn, or any other random musical instrument you can think of.
We present 2 monthly nights. 'Out Of Town' itself at the mighty Star and Garter is a monthly collection of rarities. Indie, grunge, dirty rock n roll from every corner of the UK that have not been seen in Manchester before. , and freshest new acts that we challenge not to bring a tear to your eye. 'Powerman and the Moneygoround'' at The Dry Bar a collection of the Manchester bands that excite us the most, the cities finest new bands from folk to powerpop.
This is what our nights are all about, A collection of the most eclectic rock n roll, punk, funk, and downright dirge the UK has to offer. At our nights you will often find like minded and often not bad looking folk, getting together to share their music with the world, or at least Manchester. And if a few units of Alcohol are accidentally consumed along the way, what can you do?
Les Sons du Nord returns to the UK! An exchange programme of sorts between Northern France, Belgium and Sheffield established since 2006. The event takes over the excellent Shakespeare pub, Gibraltar Street, Sheffield, from the 28th - 30th August. Expect top bands, amazing sausages and nice booze. Sheffield is represented by Nat Johnson, Champion Kickboxer, the Yell, Yo-Yo Static and Rotary Ten whilst Curry & Coco, Frank Shinobi, Soy un Cabalo and the Appleseeds cross the channel.
