Originally set up as a CKY covers space and to vent some creativity, Out Of Science all began with Craig Whitehouse; a disgruntled bedroom guitarist, vocalist and student. Having asked around, the band began to take shape in early 2006 with other students. They were eventually dropped from the band due to other commitments and stress. A short while after, 2 CKY fans were drafted in for a single practice which didn’t work out too well. In stepped Jimmy Lim, a punk-inspired guitarist with the goal of musical unity.
A few weeks passed and Jimmy had found a drummer. Dan Harper was added to the line-up in late 2007 for drum duties, with an influence of metal. Leighton Denham (who had previously worked with Jimmy and Craig in a band called ‘Dust’, of which had a very short life span), was also added to the band in late 2007 as a bassist of experimental rock influence. A few months passed, and as a 4-piece band a few songs were made.
Unfortunately in the spring of 2008, Jimmy Lim left the band due to other commitments and was also unable to attend the practice sessions, leaving Out Of Science as a 3-piece experimental rock band. Leighton had then taken on the backing vocals role, with Craig still on lead vocals and freeing up some more experimental songs.
On June 21st 2008, at the 'Wednesbury Music Festival' Out of Science played their first gig to a small crowd in Brunswick Park, Wednesbury, UK. Having made a good impression on their friends, family, onlookers and other bands alike, they are currently looking for gigs and are recording a demo/EP titled '39 Days' on July 12th 2008.
Hey guys, Lucy here. Me and the hubby will be coming to see you tomorrow at Brunswick Park. You say you come on about 5:40pm? We look forward to seeing you there.
