CATCH THE STREAM FOR UNDER THE X IN TEXAS EVERY TUESDAY 9AM-10AM. SPECIAL GUESTS AND PLAYLISTS ARE POSTED THERE.
Join UNDER THE X IN TEXAS May 13th Tuesday 9am-10am with host Ted Branson and his special guest , DR GARY HARTMAN, Director at the Center for TEXAS MUSIC HISTORY, Texas State University in San Marcos, Tx as they play and discuss Texas Music in conjunction with Dr Hartman's NEW BOOK, The HISTORY OF TEXAS MUSIC.
The History of Texas Music incorporates a selection of well-
chosen photographs of both prominent and less well-known artists
and describes not only the ethnic origins of much of Texas music
but also the cross-pollination among various genres. Today, the
music of Texas—which includes Native American music, gospel,
blues, ragtime, swing, jazz, rhythm and blues, conjunto, Tejano,
cajun, zydeco, western swing, honky tonk, polkas, schottisches,
rock & roll, rap, hip hop, and more—reflects the unique cultural
dynamics of the Southwest.
GARY HARTMAN is founding director of the Center for Texas
Music History at Texas State University in San Marcos. He holds a
Ph.D. from the University of Texas. Among his publications is the
lengthy introduction to The Roots of Texas Music.

HERE'S LINK TO ARTICLE ON STEEL GUITAR VIRTUOSO JIM GRABOWSKE WRITTEN BY MARGARET MOSER!
Hank Williams Sr Made his final public appearance at the "Skyline Club" in Austin, Texas, on December 19, 1952.
Jimmy Grabowske, the steel guitar player for the House Band at the Skyline Club in Austin, Hank was only able to perform for about half an hour at his last show at the Skyline on December 19, 1952. Jimmy says Hank started off well, but after about thirty minutes it was obvious something was wrong, and Hank started shaking. He was unable to continue, so Jody Meredith, the House Band leader, finished the show. Hank died thirteen days later on January 1, 1953.
