"I've heard that people don't remember what you said or what you did-but they never forget how you made them feel-and Ron Hipp and Carol Statella make you feel good."
-Louis Robinson, hooferdoofer.com
Out of the Rain is a folk duo noted for innovative arrangements and unusual expressive power. Although Ron Hipp has been well known in the Atlanta area as an accomplished solo artist and Carol Statella has played viola and sung in various groups over the years, their recent joining forces to regularly perform and record music together has resulted in a compelling, poignant sound that is both timeless and fresh.
Ron is an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist/singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. A native of Atlanta, he's been performing both solo and in various band combinations since about the age of 16. His rich baritone voice, intricate fingerpicking, altered guitar tunings, beautiful original songs and instrumentals make his shows an unforgettable experience. Ron has graced many a recording project by other artists over the years as a studio musician and has many CD cover photos to his credit, being a professional photographer as well.
Carol (string player/singer) has played in backup orchestras for Joni Mitchell, The Moody Blues, and Brian Wilson. She's performed and recorded with Ronnda Cadle & The String Poets and Rosary, and contributed to numerous other projects. As a reviewer for High Performance Review and contributor to Rockrgrl magazine, she interviewed Caroline Aiken and Robert Shaw, and worked as a public radio announcer. Carol has also played in the Atlanta Opera Orchestra and sung with the Atlanta Symphony Chorus.
Ron and Carol have known each other and crossed paths musically for well over a decade, through many artistic and personal evolutions. Their sound together has been described as warm, eloquent, and vivid. Onstage, Ron and Carol draw audiences in with artful musicality, occasionally inane humor, and absolute focus on inviting the listener into the depths of a song. While continuing to perform in intimate venues around North Georgia, they are recording a selection of songs and instrumentals for upcoming release.

Yesterday Is History Tomorrow is a Mystery Today is a Gift... That's why we call it the Present
beautiful! thanks for being my friend on myspace! you should check out the soundtrack from the mockumentary "A Mighty Wind". all the actors wrote their own folk music, and it's pretty darn good. I just thought of it b/c Ron Hipp's voice reminded me of Eugene Levy's of all people.
Oh, thank you so much, Carol! What beautiful words you wrote, i am humbled : ) So you're from Silver Spring, yeah, i bet it's changed a lot, everything down there has. Your guys' music sounds great, so clear and present, email me if you come to the mid-Atlantic area! : ) ~woody
