Out of Your Head is a Baltimore-based improvised music collective co-founded by guitarist Matt Frazao and bassist Adam Hopkins in early 2009. Hopkins and Frazao curate weekly performances by the collective on Tuesday nights at The Windup Space, located at the corner of North Avenue and Charles Street. Out of Your Head is an attempt to broaden the local improvised music scene in Baltimore, and to form groups of musicians in performance that have never played together.
There are roughly 25 musicians currently involved in the collective, and the number continues to grow. Every Tuesday night Frazao and Hopkins draw from this pool of musicians to create groups who perform two sets of improvised music. Each week a completely different group is brought to The Windup Space to perform, and the band is likely to never be repeated again. Some collective members are already in bands together, and some have never met, but the result of the new groups is always exciting and fresh.
Performances occur every Tuesday night at The Windup Space from 9:30p-midnight. Out of Your Head is always free of charge. The Windup Space is located at 12 W North Avenue, Baltimore MD, 21201.
