Outsiders Productions is an independent company consisting of small town filmmakers based out of the Shawnee/Oklahoma City area. Outsiders was formed by Jason Alexander and Adam Hampton as part of a senior project for East Central University.
They released their first movie, LOOKING FOR HOPE (originally titled Thunder Road) locally – with Hampton as director and Alexander as producer. They shot the flick digitally in their hometown, edited it together, and Outsiders Productions was born. The soundtrack for the movie was comprised completely of local bands and artists donating their music. The movie starred Jason Garner, Stefanie Quillen, and Ryan Self. The film is a beautifully realistic portrayal of small town life, love, and defeat.
Their second film, THE CELLAR, was also written by Hampton. Alexander served as director of photography and it was produced by Kenny Pitts – another member of Outsiders. The movie starred Angelina Hampton and Bruce Bushong – a Shawnee novelist. This project has been acknowledged at the Bare Bones Film Festival as Best OK Soil film. It was nominated for Best Oklahoma Film at the Trail Dance film festival.
Outsiders Productions also worked in association with Phigment Philms in
WHEN I FIND BIN LADEN – a gritty journey into the Oklahoma drug landscape. It met with success in various film festivals, both in the US and internationally. The crime drama was directed by James Bridges.
Currently, Outsiders are on the festival circuit with the off-beat comedy BOWLIN' ALLEY, written and directed by Todd Kinnamon and Adam Hampton (Outsiders served as Executive Producers). Jason Alexander served as the director of photography, Pitts and Angelina Hampton produced, and the duo of Hampton and Alexander joined forces yet again to edit. Post Sound Supervision by Tony Weeks. The film starred Angelina Hampton, Julia Curry, Shea Spears, Todd Kinnamon, and Adam Hampton, among others. BOWLIN' ALLEY most recently won Best Oklahoma Film and Best Comedy Feature at the Trail Dance film festival. Alexander was awarded for his poster design. - It was accepted to the Bare Bones film festival and was nominated for Best Comedy, the OK Soil Award, and Julia Curry was nominated for her role as Betsy.
Outsiders recently premiered a short film entitled "A BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR THE LORD'S WORK" - a gritty religio-horror flick. A BEAUTIFUL DAY ... was also accepted into its first festival submission: Bare Bones International Film Fest. in Muskogee, OK. It was nominated for Best Horror and the OK Soil award. The short is a stark creative departure from the previous works. Again written/directed by Hampton, shot by Alexander, and produced by Pitts, the disturbingly suspenseful short also enlisted James Bridges as technical director on the project with Sean Freeland on the audio. Post sound by Weeks again. The film was dropped from the festival after a controversial ad campaign that was ultimately investigated by the F.B.I. (Outsiders was deemed innocent of "threatening Muskogee"), however the film was then accepted into OKC's DeadCenter Film Festival. Production on the short followed an even smaller project, entitled KILLING YOURSELF SLOWLY, written, directed, and shot by Kenny Pitts. The project starred Hampton and was edited by Alexander - it had also been accepted into the Bare Bones festival (and subsequently dropped due to ABD's controversy and death threats made to the filmmakers) and itself is nominated for OK Soil.
