SYNOPSIS:

Todd (Josh Hamilton) heads up the sales department in a Seattle-based company that sells cheap novelty products. After his entire department is outsourced, he succeeds in hanging on to his job only by agreeing to go to India to train his own replacement.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT OUTSOURCED:

“Outsourced…is a wonderful surprise…the filmmakers treat Todd’s story as a springboard for a smart look at the effect of cultural difference on work, friendship and love, and the global economy’s impact on national and personal identity…Outsourced may be unique: a charming culture-clash romance that could be taught in business schools.”
—New York Times

“(Outsourced) is a film bursting with affection for its characters and for India. It never pushes things too far, never stoops to cheap plotting, is about people learning to really see one another. It has a fundamental sweetness and innocence…And in a time when the word "chemistry" is lightly bandied about, what they generate is the real thing.”
—Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times

“Outsourced is a thoughtful satire that looks at the human face beyond contemporary frustrations associated with the global economy….The gentle but illuminating Outsourced proves the story, as long as it's told well, never gets old.”
—Seattle Times

“One of those unexpected gems that seems to pop up out of nowhere, Outsourced is a timely, topical comedy that mines the rich vein of globalization and its discontents with sharp, observant wit and a wonderfully light touch.”
—The Washington Post

“Outsourced is a sweetly acted and neatly executed social comedy. In its patience and affection, Outsourced is a movie Bill Forsyth might have tried - well, with "Local Hero," he did.”
—The Boston Globe

I just happen to have come across this film as recommended on Netflix! I watched it streamed and now I'll be getting the DVD. I love this movie and I'll be showing it at my university as well (for the Asia Club).
