   OUTspoken Project's Blurbs
About me:
The OUTspoken project is an organic audio seres, designed to capture the coming out stories of queer individuals worldwide. Producer Robert Drake and Associate Producer Jenny Brennan will record those willing, in order to create an ongoing series of coming out stories, as told in the first person.

Originating from WXPN-FM in Philadelphia, PA, the OUTspoken project will broadcast as a component of Q’zine: a weekly queer arts & culture magazine. In the near future the OUTspoken project will also become a podcast, available through the station's new media website, http://www.xponentialmusic.org/

http://xpn.org/imgs/qzine5_clear.gif
Q’zine can be heard Sunday nights at 11:30pm (eastern) on:

88.5fm WXPN-Philadelphia PA
88.1fm WXPH-Harrisburg, PA
104.9fm WXPN-Lehigh Valley, PA
90.5fm WKHS-Worton/Baltimore, MD
- and live worldwide http://xpn.org/listen.php
Who I'd like to meet:

The OUTspoken project is searching for those willing to share their personal coming out story - you can be freshly 'out of the closet' or perhaps coming out was something you did a long time ago! The story can be as anonymous as it needs to be - since what is important to the OUTspoken project is to capture the story itself. All we need is your first name, age and what part of the country you're in ... the rest of the story is yours to tell.

We will be recording these stories in our Philadelphia studios using standard telephone lines - so all you need is a phone and a block of time where you are alone and undisturbed. The OUTspoken project will broadcast both regionally within the Greater Philadelphia area as well as globally as a podcast via the internet - our hope is that your words, your stories, will help those closeted make the important step to come out themselves.

If you're interested in being part of the OUTspoken project, drop us a line via this page - or you can use qzine@xpn.org -- and include a brief summary of your personal coming out experience, along with your first name, your age and the state in which you reside.

We expect to receive a large amount of emails from those wanting to tell their story ... so please be patient. This project is ongoing - and we will reply to everyone!

Finally, help spread the word about the OUTspoken project by adding us as a friend and by leaving a comment on just how important it was for you to come out in your life!

Much Thanks,

Robert & Jenny

GAY LAY-BY
For John Goldsmith

My love’s keynote smell is
Locked within my pores,
His scent exploring
Way beneath the skin
Where there, like patient doggers,
Wait my wild neural highways
Empty
But for his high performance bike.

Inside
My mind’s hide he’s riding
At the speed of light sensation
Just to find
With every touch and thrust
The inspiration for my loving him
And liking what he does well once
Then does again.
Dear God.

I drive a clear way
Free from traffic
A black top
From my hot head to my gay heart
And halfway home a Welsh lay-by waits.
Now,
Moving his shift stick into park,
There’s handy,
A promising place to start.

BE A PART OF THE REVOLUTION IN SMALL TOWN AMERICA

Come Support the LGBTQ Movement and See and Hear Transgender Indie/Folk Phenomenon Namoli Brennet’s Performance to Inaugurate the Landmark Latonia Theatre in Oil City, Pennsylvania

Saturday Feb. 9, 2008
8:00 PM

Latonia Theatre
1 East First Street
Oil City, PA 16301

A revolution of sorts has been happening in the hills of northwestern Pennsylvania over the past few years. In addition to fostering a creative arts scene, Oil City and surrounding towns have been at the forefront of efforts to make rural and small town America more hospitable to their increasingly visible gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender residents.

At the symbolic heart of this movement in Oil City is the Latonia Theatre, a stunning art deco gem lovingly restored by local lesbian couple Linda Henderson and Roxanne Hitchcock.

! To help blow the closet door off its hinges, Tucson-based Transgender Indie/Folk Phenom Namoli Brennet is coming to town !

More than just a “Boy in a Dress,” as one of her song titles suggests, Brennet’s gorgeous arrangements and soulful voice are perfectly suited to make the acoustic magnificence of the Latonia’s monumental and must-see-and-hear concert hall shine.

PLEASE JOIN US TO RE-OPEN THE LATONIA IN STYLE AND SHOW THE BRAVE FOLKS OF OIL CITY AND SURROUNDING TOWNS THAT WE’RE ON THEIR SIDE.

Tix: $10 general admission, $5 student ID
