Cloak of Paranoia by Out The Back Room 'live' at liquid lounge
All music and Lyrics are written by George, Dave and Jay. With the exception of 'Paper Chains' which was 90% written by best mate Toby Colson, then discarded as Quote 'Shit' by Toby at 4am on a drunken Tuesday, the lyrics were subsequently rescued, finished off and a melody applied by George Jay and Dave.' Paper Chains' will be added to playlist soon!

Influences
oh so many!! to name but a few in no particular order other than the order in which they are coming to mind! Frank Turner whose lyrics are the contempary bar!! Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Woody Guthrie, Johnny Cash, Everything but the Girl, Matt Costa, Jack Johnson, Donavan Frankenreiter, Troubadour, Three Daft Monkeys, Emily Barker, The Kinks, Belle and Sebastian, Kate Rusby, Jools Holland, Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel, Edwina Hayes, Willy Mason, Jose Gonzales, Nick Drake, Paul Heaton, David Gray, The Proclaimers, The Beatles, John Lennon, Ray Lamontagne, Paul Weller.....Jay in the back room

Jay's 21st was looming in November of 2008 and entertainment had not yet been booked, encouragement from many friends that it was time to put a band together and to 'get the music out of the back room' and three of the most unlikely of hero's stepped up to the plate!! With only four weeks rehersal which actually amounted to a couple of hours a week!! Lyrics written on pieces of rizla packets and ten original songs to learn, the challenge was on!! The eve of Jay's birthday and tensions are running high, the usual laid back atmosphere in the back room somewhat overshadowed by the presence of two grand's worth of borrowed pa, speakers, moniters, mics, leads etc etc. Which everyone is trippping over and NOBODY has a clue how to operate, this clearly messes with the usual vibe, no worries all will be cool on the night, is the general consensus!! Oh Aye!! that'll be right!! The big day arrives, all is cool at the sound check, "this band thing is not a problem man!" . That is right up until we step up to stage! Dave's guitar lead is duff right at the outset of our first song, whilst trying to unravel the spagetti wires in order to locate the other end of the lead,(lesson 1 'always label your leads and your pa') George somehow managed to set fire to the bottom of his jeans on one of the stategically placed 'ambiance' candles placed around the set, Unbelievable man!! Never the less ten minutes later and somehow the show goes on, although a bit nervy to begin, and being completely freaked at the concept of not being able to hear anything on the stage!!(lesson 2 'get a stage monitor') our unlikely trio get through the set which seems to end far too quickly but is followed by unexpected rapturous applause!! people actually liked our music!! and it didn't seem as though they were lying!! ( most of the people there were our mates anyway! some of whom incidentally talk bollocks most of the time!! you know who you are!!) Non the less the boys were bitten by the live performance bug and "Out The Back Room" were born. We are a long way from being polished at the moment and apologise for the poor quality of the recordings, which have been recorded on a single mic and laptop in the back room with no indivdual balancing capability. Since our debut performance we have made one other public performance which to our surprise has generated the offer of several other gigs so we felt it may be time to sort a myspace page in order to advertise them, and ourselves. We will hopefully sort out upgraded versions of our tunes when we have better quality recording equipment, our tunes are by no means finished articles but are work in progress but hope it gives those taking the time to listen a feel for our music which we hope you will enjoy, take is easy and thanks for looking and listening, All the best George, Dave and Jay.Peace:-) Please feel free to add us as a friend, leave comments etc. critical or other wise we have an open mind here and are always eagre to improve!!
