About me:
Founded and operated by Matt Turner, Overeasy studios is located in the heart of downtown Mesa, and is an awesome creative environment for recording rock, pop and R&B artists. Matt has been in the music industry as a musican and engineer for more than 10 years. While he was the bass player for "The Vrooom," he worked at The Saltmine Studios with producer Don Salter and chief engineer John Gray, who recorded their all analog-album. Matt then moved on to play bass with Virgin Records recording artists "Fivespeed." While he was with Fivespeed, he spent a year on the road playing top venues such as the House of Blues and CBGB's. Matt also joined Fivespeed as they played on the entire warped tour in 2005. Sharing the stage with artists Ten Years, Cold, Saliva, P.O.D., Gym Class Heroes, and many more. Overeasy studios is Matt's personal studio which he has been building up for years to record his own music, and in the past few years he has opened his doors to some of the finest talent in the Valley. He has made some great records with bands such as "The Desperate Hours," "The Necronauts" and many others.
In today's world where everybody seems to have a home studio, despite the wealth of great gear available at your local music store, it's still not easy to get the "major label sound" without a great room and an experienced engineer. One of the most important parts of making a great sounding record is starting with a killer drum sound. There is no better place to go in the valley then The Saltmine Studios to accomplish this. They have an awesome drum room, 50 channels of discrete Neve mic pre's, equalizers and vintage compressors, a massive array of Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser and many other modern and vintage microphones, a Studer 2" 24 track analog tape deck, 4 killer Pro Tools systems and a talented and experienced staff. All these elements come together to make great sounding records in all genres from rock to hip-hop and everything in between.
Although I get some awesome drum sounds at Overeasy, I won't hesitate to admit that tracking drums at The Saltmine can yeild better results. We can save you a little money by tracking drums at The Saltmine and then bringing your project back to my place to overdub bass, guitars and vocals with my own Neve mic pre's and Neumann mics, Pro Tools etc. Then, once everything is tracked, we can mix at Overeasy or take it to the next level by bringing it back to The Saltmine to mix on their 64 channel SSL console and master it on their 1" Analog tape deck, one of only 50 in the world! Either way, I can help you with the production and engineering aspects of the recording process, which leaves you free to concentrate on your performance and composition.
If you have music that you want to record, I can help you put something together that you will be proud to play for anyone you meet! If you need some help with the parts, I can hook you up with the best studio drummers, bassists and guitarists in the Valley. In fact, whatever instrument you might need on a song, I can either play it myself or find someone who can! With lots of indie and major label experience in the studio and on the road, I am eager to share this knowledge with you to produce and record your hit songs. Let me work with you, together we can make amazing records!
