"Making the venue sound good was definitely achieved through this band. Breaking into immediately catchy songs, with a presence that attracted onlookers, they caught the attention of their peers easily. The sound of the band is similar to that of The Police, but a more rockier, and concise version. The songs are not out of place in a line-up of heavier music, yet the pop and ska element makes them incredibly accessible. Influences from other genres are easily to spot, and although it is difficult for bands to defy being pigeonholed into one category, this band would be one of them. The vocals are clear and well harmonised and the guitar parts stand out as well polished and of a high standard. Overthrow-"more addictive than nicotine" it would seem. Overthrow are a 4 piece reggae/rock/alternative band from Guildford, Surrey. They have been together for about two years with various different members.
August 2007 saw the release of the debut album "The Withdrawal of Reason", recorded over a 6 month period at ''Resident Recordings'' in Guildford. The album is available to buy on the left side of this page via PayPal, in selected record stores in the uk, from the ITunes music store, and the band's merch table at any of their gigs!
The band are currently recording a new E.P in Guildford that will feature 6 brand new tracks. The new songs have been receiving amazing feedback since the band started including them in their live set on tour earlier this year, so keep your eyes out for the release date which is announced in june 08!!
