Hakkımda: Overton Whistles are handcrafted instruments by either Bernard Overton in England or Colin Goldie in Germany.
These instruments are solely made from aluminium and have set the industry standard for Low Whistles. Before Bernard Overton offered his first aluminium Low D, no such whistle existed that was used for traditional Irish Music and the term Low Whistle or Low D is coined after the Overton Tenor D. 40 years on, many other whistle makers have since started making this kind of instrument, yet the Overton is still regarded as one of the best.
Update July 2008: Bernard Overton sadly passed away.
Update September 2009: Colin Goldie now calls his instruments "Goldie Whistles".
Update October 2009: We have had a couple of people saying that they heard that Colin has changed the design of the instruments which is not the case, the only thing obviously changing is the brand name. Please visit his website for more information.
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace... Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my blog for details): CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Hope everything's going well and the reason for writing is to let you know that the whistle is fantastic and in short I shall probably call you to make me another low in a different key.
Hello Colin & Brigitte, Just wanted to let you know we put online a track with the LowD ;-) As usual its "amateur" work, but it sounds definetly great ! Hope your summer is full of music ! Take care Etienne, from Ail Riche Confit (that sounds like Irish Coffee in french)
Hallo Colin, hallo Brigitte! Vielen Dank fürs "MySpace-Freundesein". Wir hoffen, dass jetzt alles gut bei euch läuft und drücken euch ganz fest die Daumen. (You're in our prayers!) Alles Liebe, Thomas & Reinhard

I'm off to the Loch Lomond Folk Festival this weekend with my new whistles and 5 new Lunasa tunes I've learnt since Arran Folk Festival and meeting the boys.
Best wishes and hope you are both in good health. Ian Aberdeen, Scotland
