>br/> THE OZARK SKITTLE MUSIC SERIES was a good show. It was a small audience; however, the music was inspiring. Reese Neal, Chase Missy, Jori Costello, and Effron White each did a set. It was fun. Great diverse music.
SHANE ADKINS put on a good show at the "Mount Sequoyah Unplugged Songwriter Conferece" earlied in September.
On the trip to Austin, I saw KEN GAINES, BUTCH MORGAN AND OTHERS out in Luckenbach. I can finally say I have been to Luckenbach. We had hoped to bring them to Fayetteville in 2009; however, it may be 2010 before we manage. I am looking for the right opportunity to bring them here.
SLAID CLEAVES, SAM BAKER and of course JIMMY LAFAVE others have joined Jimmy LaFave's new independent label. A very talented roster. This may be the model for the new record industry (just an opinion), smaller labels and/or co-ops that are more hands on by the artist. We wish them continued success with the new label. JOHN INMON joined JIMMY LAFAVE in a series of shows, including GoodFolks in Fayetteville. I have been a fan of both for several years, it was a special experience getting to see them play together at GoodFolks.
ROD PICOTT AND AMANDA SHIRES played a very good show at GOODFOLKS IN FAYETTEVILLE, ARKANSAS in the spring. Since then Amanda has managed to get her new cd "West Cross Timbers" into the top 25 on the FAR charts. We look forward to seeing them both in December.
"emith" latest release "13 Seasons", is a great cd. I listen to it often.
STACEY EARLE AND MARK STUART are going to be back in the area this fall and winter. Be sure to check their calender.

Tickets available at the Mount Sequoyah Conference and Retreat Center, The Fayetteville Visitors Bureau and through Ox Cart, Inc.. Tickets also available at the door the night of the show.
Mount Sequoyah Unplugged Songwriter Conference went well. Steve Smith, who wrote many of the songs Hannah Blaylock andEden Edge perform and Shane Adkins, with international world champion titles for finger picking and thumb picking put on some good writing seminars. Shane Adkins also put on a great show Saturday night, as the feature show for the conference. Shane had a pretty good crowd at the cd table at the break, my songwriter friends tell me that is a good sign when you are doing a show. I think the audience really liked his show a lot, I know I did. If you are not familiar with either of their music check them out online. Listen to music performed live every chance you get, you are only on this planet for so long. Ozark Skittle Music Series is less than two weeks away. September 26, 2009, 6 pm to 10 pm at Mount Sequoyah. Four local acts performing original music, Jori Costello, Effron White, Chase Missy, and Reese Neal. I am looking forward to it. Also, be watching for an invitation only show in December for Chamber of Commerce members and sponsors featuring Buddy Monlock, Suzi Ragsdale, and Rod Picott w/ Amanda Shires.

Today I picked up a copy of"Dreaming As One -The A & M Years", Richie Haven's compilation cd of "The End of the Beginning" and "Mirage" when at A & M in the 70's. "The End of the Beginning" is the album that I got to know Richie Havens voice, and which made me a fan for life. Today I listen to mostly singer/songwriters, I know my affinity for lyric and the interpretation of lyric were heavily influenced by "The End of the Beginning" back in the 70's. Whether a cover like "10 CC's" "I'm not in Love" or Richies originals like "I Was Educated By Myself", this album makes you listen from the inside out. Every Richie Havens fan, every music fan should have this cd. From Number 1308 of 4000 very lucky music fans that can have this very special Limited Edition cd THANK YOU RICHIE. Come back to Northwest Arkansas soon.
Mount Sequoyah Conference and Retreat Center is adding to their program for 2010. Sequoyah Songwriters Round is not a round in the traditional sense of several artist sharing the same stage the same night, instead their will be a dozen local artist through the year share the stage. Once a month at Mount Sequoyah , scheduled for the first Tuesday of the month, they will be featruing a local songwriter performing original music. They will be using Parker Lodge and weather permitting Friendship plaza for a coffee house or house concert type setting. It will be a good listening setting for original music. The Gift Center at Mount Sequoyah is sponsoring the first years shows. Those of you that know me, know how passionate I am about songwriters from Northwest Arkansas. So you also know, how pleased I am to see this added to some great programming at Mount Sequoyah. OZARK SKITTLE MUSIC LIVES !!!
Thanks for listning to my cd. I am close to finishing my second cd. More homegrow, so to speak than Pennies. Good suggestion, about Effron. I love Effron's songs. Scott
emith (that is not a typo, it is emith) the California duo has released a new cd "13 Seasons". It is a very well made cd. They have their own style and their own great sound. Carol has a laid back singing style that she makes it sound easy, she can belt it out when she needs to as well. The originals are well crafted songs. The majority were written by Carol (Carol Ann Ives) and Stevie (Stevie Gurr) with a few co-writes with others and a couple of nice covers on the cd as well, showing their ability to arrange others songs in their pleasant style. Stevies electric guitar playing makes you want to kick off your shoes and play along (only if I could). Stevie is just as adapte on an acoustic guitar as he shows on the cd. Those who know Stevie knows he likes to play sans shoes. Check them out on myspace and youtube. And treat yourself to a good cd, buy your own copy of "13 seasons", you can buy it online or by mail. "13 seasons" is a cd I know I will listen to in my car and home often. "13 seasons" is a cd I strongly recommend to my friends.

Amanda Shires solo cd "West Cross Timbers" went from #27 to #21 on the FAR (FREEFORM AMERICAN ROOTS CHART) for June 2009. Last year Amanda and Rod Picott's duo cd "Sew Your Heart With Wire" reached #7 on the UK Americana chart. Making the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, pretty good. Woo hoo Amanda.
