WHAT IS OXJAM?
Oxjam is Oxfam's most ambitious music event ever – a nationwide music festival created last year running throughout the month of October. Whether you sing, scratch, or strum, you can join some of the biggest names in music as part of the Oxjam lineup, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds to fight poverty. The size of the venue or lineup doesn’t matter: it can be one band, three bands or more and it can feature any style of music. If you reckon you can raise some money for Oxfam, then get in touch to find out how to get involved. The beauty of Oxjam is that hundreds of small events make up one huge festival.
HOW DOES OXJAM HELP?
Oxjam is about raising money for Oxfam to tackle poverty all over the world. Supporting Oxjam helps people to earn a living; to get an education; health care; fresh water; and to grow more food. Last year there were over 1000 Oxjam gigs raising around £500,000, this year Oxjam is going to be even bigger with an anticipated 3000 music gigs and a target of £1 million.

OXJAM AND MTV?
As part of Oxjam, MTV have launched a brand new talent initiative called 'Get Seen, Get Heard'.
Bands and artists playing at Oxjam gigs will be able to upload any recorded footage to a specially created MTV website. Then the most popular Oxjam acts, as voted by MTV viewers, will appear on MTV in a series of Get Seen, Get Heard profiles. In 2006 twenty-two finalists were featured on MTV and then whittled down to a final five who each received a mentoring session with a music industry expert and took part in a special music showcase. This year Oxjam and MTV are working together to give even more up-and-coming artists their big break. There will also be the chance to record an exclusive session in the MTV studios (www.mtv.co.uk/sessions). You can see details of last year's 22 Get Seen, Get Heard finalists and watch videos of their Oxjam performances on the Get Seen, Get Heard website at www.mtv.co.uk/oxjam
OXJAM AND XFM?
XFM are one of Oxjam’s new partners for 2007. The official Oxjam Dorchester Gig on 7th October has been picked as one of only 200 gigs this year to receive special sponsorship from XFM and the V organization. This means that the musicians involved in the gig will have the chance to be featured on XFM.
Oxfam GB is a registered charity (no 202918) & a member of Oxfam International. Oxfam works with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering.
